In the first ODI match of Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan, the latter won the toss and chose to bat first. Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran started the batting attack on the throw from Rajitha. Gurbaz bought the first two boundaries of the innings and the side got a score of 21 after 4 overs. Smashing the ball, Gurbaz and Zadran got two fours, one each that spiked their score crossing the half-century; 50 after 9 overs. At 14th over, Gurbaz got a 50-run stand that was backed by some wonderful hits for boundaries and sixes. Afghanistan got up to a score of 83 after 14 overs. Giving a breakthrough, Hasaranga took the first wicket of Gurbaz from Afg who scored 53 in 55 balls. With Ibrahim Zadran standing tall and Rahmat Shah alongside, Afg crossed the century, score shifted to 103-1 after 19 overs. Joining Gurbaz, Zadran also reached his 50 and his gameplay pushed the team score to 120-1 after 24 overs. Being fierce, Zadran kept smacking boundaries and stood at 159-1 after 30 overs. After 37 overs, Rahmat Shah was the third player from the side to reach his 50 and he crossed 3000 run score in ODI cricket. After 38 overs, the duo crossed the century, marking 202-1 on the scoreboard. Restricting the score to 52 in 64 balls, Kumara dismissed Rahmat. At 41st over, Zadran crunched a four, moving ahead to his 2nd ODI ton and lost his wicket to 106 in 120 balls. Afghanistan posted 294 runs in their first ODI match against Sri Lanka at a loss of 8 wickets. To chase 295 runs, Nissanka and Kusal Mendis came to the middle to face Fazalhaq Farooqi’s bowling. Nissanka hit the first two boundaries in the 2nd over and got a score of 11 after 2 overs. Ahmadzai took the first wicket of Mendis who just scored 1. Lankans had a poor start and lost 2 wickets early. Nissanka and Dhanajaya played high-quality shots that led the score up 50-2 after 8 overs. Hitting multiple boundaries, Nissanka got to 50-run stand and the team score crossed the century; 103-4 after 18 overs. Nissanka stood tough and helped the team to get a score of 159-5 after 28 overs. Fueling a huge run score of 85 off 83, Nissanka got out to Farooqi. Hasaranga showed a magical play as he drilled 4 fours and 1 six on the throw from Nabi in 31st over; SL at 192-6 after 31 overs. The power batter led the team to cross the double century after 33 overs and he touched 50 runs in style. Scoring 66 off 46 deliveries, Hasaranga lost to Farooqi. Afghanistan got a win over Sri Lanka by 60 runs in the first SL vs AFG match, restricting them at a score of 234-10 after 38 overs.
