WOMEN’S ASIA CUP T20 2022: INDIA TRIUMPHED OVER SRI LANKA BY 41  RUNS The first match of Asia Cup T20 2022 was conducted between India women and Sri Lanka women on October 1, 2022 in the Sylhet Outer Cricket Stadium in Sylhet. The pitch of the cricket ground was dry with a bit of grass, offering great opportunity to the spinners but was good enough for the batters as well. 
 
With the captains of both the women’s cricket teams coming on the ground for the toss, Sri Lanka women won the toss and opted to field first. From the India team, Shafali Verma and Mandhana came up as the opening batters against Sugandika Kumari and Verma hit her first four of the match in the first over getting a score of 5 in 5 deliveries. 
With the match slowly pacing up, Mandhana lost her wicket on the throw of Sugandika. Consequently, Jemimah Rodrigues joined Shafali; meanwhile, Verma got out to Ranasinghe and India stood at 24-2 after 5 overs. While Jemimah slammed a couple of fours in her batting, Harmanpreet Kaur couldn’t pose some strength of runs to India’s side but playing along with Rodrigues, they moved the score to 54-2 after 8 overs.
 
 When Inoka Ranaweera took the bowling charge at the crease, the Indian women found it difficult to scale runs in the 9th over. Rodrigues hit the ball long over the boundary on a delivery by Kavisha Dilhari. Playing a couple of good shots, Jemimah scored her first half-century in the 11th over, posing India at 81-2 after 12 overs. The run association of Kaur and Rodrigues got a century for team India, with Kaur’s figures, 24 off 22 deliveries. Kaur left the pitch on a throw from Ranasinghe. 
 
Then, Dayalan Hemalatha joined Rodrigues and moved the figures to 127-3 after 17 overs. Lastly, Deepti Sharma and Dayalan Hemalatha restricted India's women's score at 15-6 after 20 overs. Rodrigues scored 76 runs in the match today. In the second innings, Madavi and Athapaththu came up for the batting attack for Sri Lanka to face the bowling of Renuka Singh.
 
 Both the batters scored 13 runs three fours in the first over. Deepti Sharma took the first wicket of Athapaththu allowing her to score 5 off 8 deliveries. With Harshitha Madavi and Malsha Shehani, Sri Lanka was at 39-1 after 5 overs. Thereafter, Sri Lanka lost three wickets frequently. Losing 5 wickets, Sri Lanka stood at 61 after 11 overs. On a throw from Radha Yadav, Sanjeewani lost her wicket scoring just 5 runs in 9 deliveries.
 
 Renuka came into the bowling attack to slam Oshadi Ranasinghe and Hasini Perera, Sri Lanka women stood at a total of 102-6 after 16 overs and Ranasinghe lost her wicket to Hemlatha. Hasini Perera and Inoka Ranaweera could only manage to take the team to a score of 109 runs. At last, India was the one that dominated Sri Lanka throughout the game and won by 41 runs. Dayalan Hemalatha dismissed 3 Sri Lankan players in the match while Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar took 2 wickets each in the game.
