Women's Asia Cup 2022: Pakistan W Qualifies for the Top 4; Beat UAE Women by 71 Runs

The past few days have been extremely up and down for Pakistan Women, who were shocked by Thailand Women on Thursday before bouncing back to overcome India Women by 13 runs on Friday. Pakistan Women are tied for second position with India Women at the top of the standings on points. It has been a difficult competition for the UAE Women, who are taking part in their debut Women's Asia Cup. Although they had dropped three games, they won their first league match on Wednesday when they defeated Malaysia Women by a score of 7 wickets.

UAE Women won the toss in this match and opted to field first. Pakistani openers Muneeba Ali and Ameen came to the crease and played some good shots until Mahika Gaur dismissed Ameen at a score of 2 (6). In the powerplay, Pakistan W could only score 34 runs at a loss of 1 wicket. Soon after the powerplay, Maroof and Omaima gave away their wickets to Esha Oza on two consecutive deliveries. After 8 overs, Pakistan's scoreboard read 41-3. Muneeba kept hitting big boundaries to the UAE's bowler before getting out by Esha Oza at 43 (45).

However, this couldn't hamper Pakistan much as Alia Riaz was fantastically standing on the crease and smashing UAE women to fours and sixes. With her 57* of 36 balls, Alia powered Pakistan Women to finish the inning with a score of 145-5 in 20 overs. 

Esha Oza was the best bowler, taking three wickets, but the other bowlers could not stop the opposition after that. This total made Pakistan rather happy, and they had a good chance of holding it. With Riaz's knock excluded, Muneeba Ali's contribution was Pakistan's other key one.

In the run chase, UAE W collapsed one after the other. No one from the UAE's side could cross the 20+ mark today. They played a sloppy inning and could only manage to add 74 runs at a loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. 

Pakistan has now beaten UAE by 71 runs, joining India in having four victories. Pakistan was having trouble with the bat, but a fifty from Riaz helped them save face. Nidar Dar once more displayed solid bat control. UAE could not generate much momentum with the bat in the second part of their bowling inning, allowing the game to slip away. The Pakistani bowlers were deliberate in their bowling and barely made any mistakes. They may not have taken many wickets, but they played tightly. At this precise point in the journey, they are picking up speed.
