Latest Updates of World Cup 2023

ICC has released the schedule for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India from October 5 to November 19. The upcoming World Cup will feature a total of 10 teams including India, Afghanistan, Australia, England, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa. These teams earned the opportunity by performing well in the 2020-2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The other two remaining teams will be finalized through the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers that are taking place in Zimbabwe. The following are some of the latest updates of the ICC One Day World Cup 2023-

  • The date of the India vs. Pakistan match has been changed due to the start of the Navratri festival. If the match occurs on the previous date i.e., October 15, then it will be a challenge to arrange the security.

 

  • The match between India and Pakistan was originally scheduled to be played on October 15 in Ahmedabad but now it will be played on October 14. 

 

  • The initial match of the tournament will take place on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Furthermore, the BCCI secretary, Jay Shah has recently announced that the final of the upcoming World Cup will also be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. 

 

  • It was also recently announced that the first semi-final will be hosted at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and the second semi-final will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. 

 

  • Overall there will be a total of 10 venues i.e., Hyderabad, Dharamshala, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Kolkata. 

 

  • Additionally, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram will further host the warm-up matches from September 29 to October 3.

The round-robin format will be followed by the tournament by knockout stages including semi-finals and finals.
