Batsmen Hit Highest Number of Sixes in Cricket History

1. Shahid Afridi – Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi tops our list of batsmen with the most ODI sixes in history. He played for 398 matches between 1996 and 2015, scoring 351 sixes in 369 innings. Additionally, he amassed 8064 runs at a strike rate of 117.00 and 730 ODI fours during this time.

 

 Throughout his One Day International career, he also scored six centuries. Against South Africa, Shahid hit the biggest six in cricket history of 153 meters in 2013.

 

 2. Sanath Jayasuriya – One of the greatest all-rounders of all time, Sanath Jayasuriya, is ranked second on our list of batsmen with the most ODI sixes. He played for 445 matches between 1989 and 2011, scoring 270 sixes in 433 innings.

 

 He made13430 runs at a strike rate of 91.20 and 1500 ODI fours during this period. In his One Day International career, Sanath also scored a staggering 28 centuries.

 

 3. Chris Gayle – Currently playing for West Indies, Chris Gayle is third on our list of batsmen with the most ODI sixes. He played 281 ODI matches from 1999 until the present with 267 sixes in 276 innings.

 

 In addition, he amassed 9585 runs at a strike rate of 85.61 and 1063 ODI boundaries during this time. In addition, during his One Day International career, he scored 23 centuries. He hit the highest six in ODI at a 116-meter distance against India in 2010. 

 

4. MS Dhoni – The current Indian cricketer MS Dhoni comes in at number four on our list of batsmen with the greatest ODI sixes. He played for the team from 2004 to 2018, with 217 sixes in 272 innings across 318 games. Additionally, he amassed 9967 runs at a strike rate of 88.40 and 770 ODI fours during this time.

 

 In addition, during his One Day International career, he scored 10 centuries. Dhoni, one of the best captains of all time, is well known for his signature "Helicopter Shot," which he used to score numerous of his biggest sixes. One of them was in 2009 against New Zealand at 118 meters. 

 

5. AB de Villiers – The current South African batsman AB de Villiers is ranked fifth on our list of batsmen with the most ODI sixes. He played 228 ODI matches from 2005 to 2018, scoring 204 sixes in 218 innings.

 

 Additionally, he amassed 9577 runs at a strike rate of 101.09 and 840 ODI fours during this time. In his One Day International career, he also scored a staggering 25 centuries.

 

 6. Brendon McCullum – The former New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum is ranked sixth on our list of batsmen with the 

 

highest six in cricket. He played for 260 matches between 2002 and 2016, scoring 200 sixes in 228 innings.

 

 Additionally, he amassed 6083 runs at a strike rate of 96.37 and 577 ODI fours during this time. In his One Day International career, he also recorded five centuries.

 

 7. Sachin Tendulkar – The former Indian master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is seventh on our list of batsmen with the most ODI sixes. Sachin, one of cricket's all-time greats, is lauded for being the finest batsman of his era.

 

 He played for 463 matches between 1989 and 2012, with 195 sixes in 452 innings. He also scored 4s in 2016 ODIs, during this span, totaling 18426 runs at a strike rate of 86.23. In his One Day International career, he also scored a staggering 49 centuries.

 

 8. Sourav Ganguly – Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly is ranked eighth on our list of batsmen with the most ODI sixes. He played for 311 matches between 1992 and 2007, scoring 190 sixes in 300 innings.

 

 Additionally, he amassed 11363 runs at a strike rate of 73.70 and 1122 ODI fours during this time. In his One Day International career, Ganguly, one of the best left-handed batters ever, also hit 22 hundred.

 

 9. Rohit Sharma – Currently playing for India, Rohit Sharma is a batsman with the most ODI sixes. He hits 169 sixes throughout his career, which began in 2007, but in 174 innings of 180 games, puts him ahead of Ponting.

 

 He also amassed 6594 runs at a strike rate of 86.96 and 570 ODI fours over this period.

 

 10. Ricky Ponting – One of the greatest cricket captains in history, Ricky Ponting, is ranked tenth on our list of batsmen with the most ODI sixes. He played 375 matches between 1995 and 2012, scoring 162 sixes in 365 innings. 

 

He also amassed 13704 runs at a strike rate of 80.39 and 1231 ODI fours, over this period. In his One Day International career, he scored a staggering 30 centuries.
