In 2003, ECB (England Cricket Board) Experimented and launched the format of T20 to the world. Over time, ICC (International Cricket Council) implemented a new format in the international arena. In 2007, the first-ever T20 world cup was played and India lifted the world cup and which become the world cricket news at that time. With the huge success of the T20, BCCI announced IPL (Indian Premier League) in 2008. 

 

Overview of IPL

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a men's Twenty 20 cricket league held annually in India. The exact starting date of the IPL varies from year to year but it generally begins in the first week of April. The first season of the IPL commenced in the year 2008 and the

Here, the sportsmen possess very short careers, in comparison to Indian Premier League.

Cricket is a very competitive sport and when it comes to T20 matches, the entertainment factor takes a forward leap to the next extent. T20 matches require the players to play an aggressive game. The aggressive game of T20 matches takes the adrenaline and exhilarating attribute of cricket to a much more profound state. The viewership of T20 matches has increased exponentially in the past decade and it is anticipated that this will continue.

Cricket is one of the most evolving games. As there are majorly three formats of cricket, IPL which is played in a T20 format is a famous one. From the start of the IPL, batting becomes the highlight of it. If we see the  cricket updates, Brendon McCullum smashed a fiery hundred that was the record for a long time. In 2011, Chris Gayle joined the party and continued sending the ball out of the park. His 175 runs against Pune is the highlight of this league and is also the highest run in T20 cricket. Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and David Warner are also the one the few batters whose batting revolutionized the IPL and became a mainstay of the league.

The entertainment factor of T20 matches has become the biggest allure for existing and new audiences around the globe. With the popularity of T20 matches, there has been a burst in the context of viewership worldwide. The Placebo effect has taken its course and has attracted masses around the globe.

Cricket already encompasses a large base of audience which has contributed to its popularity of the same and has created a distinct image as a sport that has put things into perspective. The mass mentality is often driven by trends, cricket with its popularity sounds appealing to the masses and attracts numerous people as its new audience.
