Rachael Haynes Puts Her Shoes Down from International Cricket The stellar Australian cricketer, Rachael Haynes retired from International cricket, leaving the international pitch holding multiple world titles to her name that includes T20 World Cup Triumphs in the year 2010, 2012, 2018, and 2020 along with two One day internationals (ODIs) World Cups in 2013 and 2022. 

Rachael is a 35-year-old southpaw who debuted in international cricket in 2009 while representing Australia in 6 tests, 77 ODIs, and 84 T20I matches.

 On Thursday, September 15, 2022, the Australian cricketer Rachael declared her retirement from all the cricket formats that would be implemented immediately. 

However, Rachael won’t hang her boots from the cricket, she is likely to appear in other upcoming seasons of Womens’ Big Bash League (WBBL) only but she won't contribute in other domestic cricket forms. 

Immediately after three days of her ODI matches, Rachael got to play her first Test match while representing Australia. During that match, she missed her century in just the debut match by 2 runs. 

Before her retirement from International cricket, the 2022 Commonwealth games triumph in Birmingham has become her last tournament played at the international level. 

With the bat, she scored a total of 3818 runs with the support of 2 centuries and 25 fifties in her International cricket career. 

On Thursday, Haynes gave a statement to the media, ‘Playing at this level isn’t possible without the support of many people. From clubs, states, coaches, family and friends, I’m so grateful to those who helped me along the way. In particular, I want to thank my parents Ian and Jenni, and partner Leah for their unwavering support.’

 She added, ‘To all the teammates across my career, you are the reason I’ve played as long as I have. You’ve inspired me to be better every day. I’ve learnt something from all of you, on and off the field. You’ve challenged me as a player, helped me grow as a person and most importantly, made cricket fun.’

 She also said, ‘One of the great things about having a long career is watching those around you develop. I’m extremely proud of the way this team has brought players in and nurtured their development. The ability to help players transition smoothly has been instrumental to our team’s success. To be a leader within this environment has been the greatest privilege of my career.’ 

The chief executive of Cricket Australia, Nick Hockley congratulated Rachael saying, ‘On behalf of everyone at Cricket Australia, I'd like to congratulate Rachael on an amazing career and also recognise the outstanding contribution she has made off the field.’ 

Rachael Haynes Career Summary During her cricket journey, Rachael became one of the most versatile players from Australia for more than 10 years in which she made marvellous contributions with the bat by coming in most of her top order position in the three formats of cricket. 

• Rachael’s performance was promising since she started playing cricket and she made her Test debut in 2009 against England, owning a record of 6th wicket stand of 229 with Jodie fields.

However, by 2013, she dropped and later after a few years, she gave statements about her retirement. 

• She was recalled by the cricket councils for the World Cup in 2017 and thereafter, she was given the captaincy when Meg Lanning was ruled out in The Ashes series in 2017-18. Since then, She has been an integral part of the Australian cricket team.

• In the 2018 and 2022 T20 World Cups, she gave her two most important innings in the match that highlighted her potential which has become her signature in a cricket match.

• During Australia's semi-finals against West Indies at North Sound, she gave 25 runs off 15 balls and that too on a tricky pitch to ensure the victory of her team, although that was trumped in 2020 and the hosts were under huge pressure in their early campaign.

• In the rivalry between Australia and India, the run chase of Australia for 123 runs was on the ropes against Sri Lanka. Haynes came into run association with Lanning for 60 runs off 47 balls, taking her team to the brink of victory.

• In domestic series like ‘The Ashes’, Rachael has represented Sydney Thunders since the WBBL league was launched. She has been a valuable asset to the hugely successful New South Wales side.
