The Ashes, 2023, England vs Australia, 4th Test, Day 5: Australia Retain the Ashes as Match Draw Due to the Rain At the end of day 4, Australia was at 214-5, Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh were playing 3(15) and 31(107), respectively. Due to rain, the fourth day of the Test match couldnt go on and it continued on the fifth day. Both teams waited to start the match but rain continued. After so many inspections, the umpire called the day off and the match ended in a draw. Australia took the unbeaten lead of 2-1 in the series and they retained the Ashes irrespective of the final Test match result. England, on the day one, won the toss and decided to bowl first. Australian batters got the great start but failed to convert to the big one. On the other hand, Woakes took four wickets and Broad reached his 600 Test wickets. On day 2, Australia got all out at 317 runs on a batting surface and Woakes took a fifer.  English batters continued their baseball approach,opener Crawley set the tone and Root and Moeen made crucial contributions with the bat. Crawley  scored a century. On day 3, Bairstow remained not out at 99 and England took a massive lead of 275 runs. Hazlewood took a fifer. Australia came to bat in the final season but the forecast was bad in the final session. On day 4, the morning session washed out but Labuschagne scored a century and made a partnership with Marsh. Root broke the partnership and once again play stopped due to rain in the final session and the umpire called the day off early.
