Super Smash 2022-23: Northern Knights Defeated Otago by 7 Wickets

At John Davies Oval, Queenstown, the teams

Otago and Northern Knights came up to play the 5th match of Super Smash. On the ground, Northern Knights won the toss and opted to bowl first. 

 

 

 

Rutherford and Thorn Parkes came to open the batting attack on the throw from Tim Pringle. In the first over only, Rutherford crunched a four and lost his wicket in the immediate over to Kuggeleijn. After 3 overs, OTG got a score of 9-3. 

 

Scoring 12 runs in 17 balls, Foxcroft lost his wicket. After 12 overs, OTG crossed the half-century with a score of 55-4. Fueling 13 off 12, Johnson got a dismissal from Tim Pringle. Gibson kept hitting boundaries but got out to Santner, scoring just 25 in 18 balls. 

 

In the same over, Rippon also lost his wicket to Santner after scoring 40 off 44 deliveries. Meanwhile, after 18 overs, OTG reached the century, with a score of 100-7. 

 

In 20 overs, OTG posted 123 on the scoreboard with a loss of 8 wickets. 

 

To chase down the target of 124, Katene Clarke and Seifert came to the middle on the throw from Jacob Duffy. In the first over only, Clarke slammed three boundaries and lost his wicket to Lockrose in the immediate over. After 3 overs, the side got a score of 18-1. 

 

In the 6th over, Seifert crunched two fours and after 8 overs, NK crossed the half-century with a score of 54-1. Scoring 36 in 24 balls, Seifert lost his wicket. With great innings of Santner, NK crossed the century with a score of 115-3 after 14 overs. 

 

In 15.1 overs, NK scored 126 runs with a loss of 3 wickets and won the match against OTG by 7 wickets.
