Super Smash 2022-23: Canterbury Started Their Campaign With 9-Wickets Win Against Northern Knights

At Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, the teams Northern Knights and Canterbury squared off against each other. Canterbury won the toss and chose field first and the match was reduced to 14 overs each side due to rain. 

Katene Clarke and Seifert came to the middle on the throw from Shipley. In the first over only, Seifert lost his wicket at duck and Jeet Raval crunched first four of the innings and got a dismissal in the immediate over to Shipley. After 3 overs, the side got a score of 17-2. 

Carter smacked a four and a six in the 8th and 9th over respectively and NK boys crossed the half-century with a score of 53-2 after 9 overs. Fueling 19 off 27, Clarke lost his wicket to  Ed Nuttall while Carter lost after scoring 27 in 26 balls. After 11 overs, NK jumped to a score of 69-4. 

In 14 overs, NK posted 96 runs on the scoreboard with a loss of 4 wickets. 

For the run chase of 97, Bowes and Matthew Boyle came to the middle on the throw from Kuggeleijn. In the first over only, Bowes hit the first four for the side and Boyle got one more in the 3rd over; the side got a score of 18. 

Boyle got a dismissal after scoring 12 off 12 deliveries. After 6 overs, the side jumped to a score of 30-1. In the 8th over from Walker, Carter crunched two boundaries while Bowes bought one. On the throw from Clarke, Carter and Bowes got a six and a four, jumping up to a score of 79-1 after 12 overs.  

In 12.5 overs, Canterbury scored 98 runs with a loss of 1 wicket and won the match against Northern Knights by 9 wickets.
