Super Smash 2022-23: Auckland Defeated Wellington by 2 Wickets

The squads, Auckland and Wellington came against each other at Eden Park Outer Oval, Auckland. The former team won the toss and opted to bowl first. 

Devan Vishvaka and Nick Kelly opened the batting attack on the opening bowling of Ben Lister. In the first over only, Vishvaka lost his wicket and the left-handed batter, Rachin Ravindra came to the middle. After 3 overs, Wellington got a score of 8-2. 

Scoring 13 off 13, Troy Johnson lost his wicket to Solia and the right-handed batter, Jakob Bhula came to the crease. After 7 overs, their score shifted to 43-4. Adding 18 runs in 16 balls, Bhula got a dismissal from Solia. 

After 9 overs, the side crossed the half-century with a score of 53-5 and the team jumped to a score of 87-5 after 14 overs. 

After 16 overs, WEL boys crossed the century with a score of 101-5 and Logan Van Beek crossed his 50-run stand who lost his wicket to Jamieson after scoring 54 in 36 balls. 

In 20 overs, Wellington posted 153 runs on the scoreboard with a loss of 6 wickets. 

Chasing down the target of 154, Worker and Cole Briggs came to the middle on the opening bowling of van Beek. In the first over, Worker bought the first four for the side. After 3 overs, AKL got a score of 11. 

Scoring 18 off 21 deliveries, Worker lost his wicket to Younghusband. After 8 overs, AKL boys crossed the half-century with a score of 50-1. Adding 35 runs in 33 balls for the side, Briggs lost his wicket to Younghusband and the side jumped to a score of 62-3 after 10 overs. 

After 15 overs, AKL reached the century, standing at a score of 100-5. In the 17th over, ODonnell slammed three sixes and two boundaries, jumping up to a score of 140-5. Meanwhile, ODonnell crossed his 50-run stand and lost his wicket in the immediate over, scoring 59 off 27. 

In 19.3 overs, Auckland scored 156 runs with a loss of 8 wickets and won the match by 2 wickets.
