Sri Lanka and Pakistan came against each other in the 1st Test match at Galle International Stadium, Galle. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first.
Sri Lanka batted first and posted 312 runs on the scoreboard. They didnt have a great start, as opener Nishan Madushka got out in the 3rd over. After this, Sri Lankan batter struggled to score runs, then Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva made a partnership for the fourth wicket. However, apart from this partnership, Sri Lankan batters struggle to score runs. Dhananjaya de Silva was the highest-scorer with a century followed by Mathews with 64 runs. Abrar Ahmed, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Afridi have shared three wickets each and Agha Salman took one wicket.
Pakistan posted 461 runs in the 1st inning. They didnt have a great strat but Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman made a partnership for the sixth wicket. Saud Shakeel scored a double hundred and was also the highest run-scorer followed by Agha Salman. R Mendis took a fifer, followed by Prabath Jayasuriya, and Rajitha and Vishwa Fernando shared one wicket each. Pakistan took a lead of 149 runs.
Sri Lanka batted in the 2nd innings and got all out at 279 runs. They got a good start as the first wicket fell at 42 runs. The Sri Lankan batter couldnt convert the great start into the big one and only two batters scored a half-century. Dhananjaya de Silva is the highest run-scorer with 82 runs, followed by Nishan Madushka with 52 runs, and R Mendis with 42 runs. Noman Ali and Abrar Ahmed are the highest wicket-takers with three wickets, followed by Agha Salman and Shaheen Afridi with two wickets. They took a lead of 130 runs.
Pakistan came to chase 131 runs and chased the target with a loss of 6 wickets and won the match by 6 wickets. Imam-ul-Haq scored a half-century, followed by Saud Shakeel with 30 runs, and Babar Azam with 24 runs. Prabath Jayasuriya took 4 wickets and Ramesh Mendis took one.
