Sri Lanka Tour of India, 2023: India vs Sri Lanka, 1st T20I Preview

Currently, India dominates the shortest format of the bilateral series and will continue their legacy against Sri Lanka as well at Wankhede. For the first T20I series in 2023, India and Sri Lanka will lock horns against each other. Last year, India showed their best gameplay and will maintain their winning streak in this year also.

The captain of India cricket team witnessed a thumb injury during the ODI series in Bangladesh and this is why, the all-rounder, Hradik Pandya will captain the team.

Reportedly, the megastar, Virat Kohli will also skip this series. With an aim to win ICC T20 World Cup 2024, India will come up in the T20I series with a young group. In this series, Sanju Samson has got an opportunity to show his performance.

On the contrary, the Sri Lanka team would look to give a stunning performance to surprise team India as they had suffered 0-3 whitewash in the last face off. Sri Lankans are the champions of the T20 Asia Cup.

Words by Hardik Pandya  ‘They took the game away in the Asia Cup, so all the players who took the game away are the players I'm looking for to stop them, to make sure that they don't take the game away from us. They are a very exciting team, you can see a lot of emotion also there because obviously what happened in the past in the country and that gave them more motivation to go out there and be in a zone where they're ready to do anything and everything possible.’

Words by Dasun Shanaka  ‘With India hosting the World Cup (in 2023), the team can know what to expect in India in the World Cup and will have been accustomed to the conditions, crowds, and other factors.’
