Pakistan Premier League: Islamabad United Won by 63 Runs In a High-Scoring Clash Against Quetta Gladiators

Pakistan Premier League: Islamabad United Won by 63 Runs In a High-Scoring Clash Against Quetta Gladiators In the clash between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators, the former won the toss and opted to bat first. Islamabad registered a thumping win in their previous match against Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi. Gurbaz and Munro opened the batting attack while Naseem Shah was handed over the first over. Soon, Gurbaz got out early in the innings, scoring just 8 off 8. Soon, van der Dussen got bowled at 1 (4). Azam Khan came next and he looked confident today. Later in his innings, when Azam was batting, it seemed as though every ball would go for six, and he was unstoppable. He eliminated Hasnain, Naseem Shah, and Odean Smith, leaving no one unharmed. It's unfortunate that he was unable to reach 100. At the halfway point of the game, Quetta was still in it but completely lost their way owing to Azam's attack. There were a few eye-catching shots by Asif Ali, but Azam's innings stood out the most. Islamabad annihilated 92 in the last five overs while the last 10 generated 143. In 20 overs, Islamabad United successfully reached 220-6. Quetta  had to exert more force during their pursuit. In the run chase, Roy and Guptill came at the crease and Fazalhaq Farooqi opened the attack. To be fair, they were already out of the game before the second inning began today. After Guptill, Roy, and Will Smeed were dismissed during the powerplay, the little optimism they had was dashed. With some powerful shots, Mohammad Hafeez demonstrated his intent, and captain Sarfaraz also contributed. The fight was, however, broken by quick wickets because the target was too high. In the end of the game, Iftikhar amused the fans by hitting a few sixes, but it was already too late. Islamabad United ultimately won by 63 runs, with bowlers Farooqi and Hasan Ali both taking three wickets and spinners Shadab and Abrar each taking two. Azam Khan, a huge man, earlier stole the stage with 97 off. Today's match ended with a high score and was followed by some thought-provoking remarks made by the Islamabad players during their presentations. They continue to get stronger as they continue their ascent to the top of the table. The PSL now has a day off before Sunday's doubleheader.
