The New Zealand vs India match dates are spread so that no team plays on consecutive days. Here is how the schedule shapes up:
Gaps between matches: The T20Is and ODIs are played 2 or 3 days apart. There are 3 days between the 5th T20I and the 1st ODI, and 3 days between the 5th ODI and the 1st Test.
Grounds used twice in a row: Hagley Oval hosts the first 2 T20Is and Bay Oval the last 2 ODIs, so both teams will see the same surface in back-to-back matches.
Split ODI captaincy: Shubman Gill will captain India in the first 3 ODIs. He will then hand over to Shreyas Iyer for the last 2, as Gill and several Test players prepare for the 1st Test.
The finish date: The tour ends on 1 December, the last scheduled day of the 2nd Test.

Hagley Oval, Christchurch
Hagley Oval is a park ground in the city's Hagley Park and New Zealand's main Test venue in the South Island. It will host 3 matches on this tour, more than any other ground.
It hosted the 2nd Test against India in 2020, which New Zealand won by 7 wickets to complete a 2-0 series win. India's 230 for 6 in the 1st T20I this week is reported to be the highest successful chase at the ground.
Hnry Stadium, Wellington
Hnry Stadium is the multi-purpose Wellington Regional Stadium, previously known as Westpac Stadium and Sky Stadium. Its round shape and exposed position make it one of the windiest international grounds in the world.
India won a T20I here in a Super Over in 2020, and the 1st T20I of their 2022 tour here was washed out without a ball bowled.
Eden Park, Auckland
Eden Park is New Zealand's biggest stadium and is best known in cricket for its short straight boundaries. It regularly produces some of the highest totals in New Zealand.
India won their first ever T20I in New Zealand here in 2019, and won the first 2 T20Is of the 2020 series here on their way to a 5-0 sweep.
Seddon Park, Hamilton
Seddon Park holds mixed memories for India. They won a Test here by 10 wickets in 2009, which remains their last Test win in New Zealand.
They were also bowled out for 92 in an ODI here in 2019, their lowest ODI total in New Zealand, and won a T20I here in a Super Over in 2020.
Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui
Bay Oval is a smaller ground near Tauranga that has become one of New Zealand's busiest white-ball venues. It hosts the last 2 ODIs on consecutive match days.
Suryakumar Yadav scored 111 not out here in a T20I in 2022, the highest score by an India batter in a T20I in New Zealand.
Basin Reserve, Wellington
The Basin Reserve is New Zealand's oldest Test ground and the venue of the 1st Test. Brendon McCullum scored 302 here against India in 2014, the only Test triple century by a New Zealand batter, as New Zealand made 680 for 8.
New Zealand also beat India here by 10 wickets in 2020, in the 1st Test of a 2-0 series win.
Pitch Reports and Conditions
Conditions will shape every format of the New Zealand vs India series 2026. New Zealand surfaces usually give fast bowlers more help than Indian pitches, especially early in a match and under cloud cover. Wind is also a big factor at the Wellington grounds.

The T20Is
Eden Park and Seddon Park are 2 of the highest-scoring grounds in New Zealand. New Zealand's 243 for 6 against Australia at Eden Park in 2018 is one of their highest T20I totals.
Hagley Oval and Hnry Stadium tend to give bowlers a little more help, but the 1st T20I at Hagley this week produced 455 runs, so a big total cannot be taken for granted.
The ODIs
All 5 ODIs are day-night matches. Seam bowlers usually get help with the new ball at 3:00 PM, and conditions often get easier for batting as the evening goes on.
Bay Oval will host 2 ODIs in 3 days, so the surface for the 5th ODI may be slower than for the 4th.
The Tests
Both Tests are at grounds where India lost in 2020. Pace and seam movement decided both matches, and New Zealand's fast bowlers took most of the wickets.
The Basin Reserve usually offers swing early, before flattening out for long periods, as it did when McCullum batted through 2 days in 2014. Hagley Oval tends to stay helpful for seamers for longer.
Weather Overview
The India tour of New Zealand 2026 is played in New Zealand's spring and early summer, when the weather can change quickly from one day to the next.
Temperatures: Daytime highs are usually in the high teens Celsius in late October and early November, rising towards the low 20s by late November. Christchurch and Wellington are generally cooler than Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga.
Rain: Showers are possible throughout. India's last white-ball tour of New Zealand, in November 2022, lost 3 of its 6 matches to rain, including 2 of the 3 ODIs.
Evening cold: The T20Is start at 8:00 PM, when temperatures drop sharply in late October, particularly in Christchurch.
Wind: Wellington is one of the windiest cities in the world, which will affect the 3rd T20I, the 2nd ODI and the 1st Test.
Dew: Dew is much less of a factor than in India, so the toss is less likely to decide night matches.

Rohit Sharma: With 1,134 ODI runs against New Zealand, he needs 252 runs in the 5 ODIs to pass Ross Taylor and move into 3rd on the all-time list for the rivalry.
Tim Seifert: He had 501 T20I runs against India after the 1st T20I. With 26 more, he would pass Suryakumar Yadav's 526, the most by any player in T20Is between the teams.
India's Test record in New Zealand: India will try to win a Test in New Zealand for the first time since 2009, and a Test series there for the first time since that same tour.

Who Will Win New Zealand vs India? Series Preview
Who will win New Zealand vs India depends on the format. India start as favourites in the T20Is, the ODIs look close, and New Zealand start as favourites in the Tests.
The T20Is
India are the world champions and have won 6 of their last 7 T20Is against New Zealand, including the World Cup final and the 1st T20I of this series.
Their top order, with Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, has scored quickly in every recent meeting. New Zealand's best chance is at Hagley Oval and Hnry Stadium, where their seamers usually get more help.
The ODIs
New Zealand won the last bilateral ODI series between the teams, in India, and they have a 26-14 home record against India. India counter with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for all 5 matches, and Kohli's record against New Zealand is the best of any batter in the rivalry.
The Tests
New Zealand have won 6 of the last 7 Tests between the teams that ended in a result, and India have not won a Test in New Zealand since 2009.
Seam-friendly pitches at the Basin Reserve and Hagley Oval suit New Zealand's attack, but Bumrah gives India a strong answer, and India need the points to stay in the World Test Championship race.
So, who will win New Zealand vs India overall? India look stronger in the shortest format, while New Zealand's home record makes them the team to beat in the longer formats.
