The 2nd ODI between New Zealand and Bangladesh has just concluded! To summarize, it was a nail-biting encounter that went down to the wire, with New Zealand ultimately clinching a thrilling victory by 7 wickets. After winning the toss, New Zealand invited Bangladesh to bat first. Bangladesh put an excellent effort from the bat. After losing four wickets before reaching 100 runs, they were in danger, but Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim produced a great partnership for the fifth wicket, which calmed the ship. After Mushfiqur Rahim was removed by Duffy in the 35th over, Sarkar forged another crucial alliance, this time with Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The New Zealand fielders dropped him three times, but Sarkar took advantage of the opportunities and eventually scored his third century in one-day internationals. Duffy was the most effective bowler for New Zealand, taking four wickets at a respectable economy rate. O'Rourke bowled a superb final over in which he also took three wickets. Soumya Sarkar top-scored with 169 off 151 balls, anchoring the Bangladesh innings. Mushfiqur Rahim (45) provided valuable contributions. The final score was 291/10 in 49.5 overs, thanks to some late hitting from the lower order.
Because of the excellent pitch, New Zealand's top-order batsmen appeared to be completely at ease during the run chase. The hosts had a great start thanks to Ravindra and Young, and after Ravindra was replaced, Nicholls and Young took over. Sadly, neither of them was able to take advantage of the opportunity to score hundreds of runs. Ultimately, New Zealand's victory by seven wickets was a result of the outstanding efforts of their top three hitters. Will Young led the chase with a classy 89 off 94 balls, playing the anchor role. Rachin Ravindra (45) and Henry Nicholls (95) provided useful contributions in the middle order. Tom Nathan & Tom Blundell finished things off with quickfire runs.
