Mohammad Shammi Tested Covid Positive, Ruled Out of IND Vs AUS Series

Mohammed Shami, an Indian fast bowler, has been disqualified from the upcoming India vs. Australia series due to a positive Covid-19 test. According to the latest cricket news, the seasoned bowler has not arrived in Mohali for the first T20 match, which is set to begin on Tuesday, September 20. The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has not yet made any official announcements.

But there is a chance that the 32-year-old may participate in the South Africa tour of India, which will be held immediately following the Australia series. The series was significant for Shami because, despite being on the list of standby players, he was not included in the 15-person BCCI T20 World Cup roster. Since Shami hadn't played for India in the shortest version of the game since the T20 World Cup last year, it would have been ideal for the team management to look at his ball-handling form before the T20 World Cup.

Even though the World Cup roster has been announced, Shami's chances of making the team would have increased with any injuries to other players, which is why the series was crucial for the India fast bowler. The Indian team management and selectors will be hoping that Shami recovers in time for the T20I series against South Africa, which would at least give them an idea of his form before the World Cup next month.

It has been confirmed that both sides have arrived in Mohali ahead of the first T20I match, which is set to take place on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. To get updated with the latest cricket updates or T20 World cup news, stay connected with CBTF Speed News.
