Big Bash League 2022: Melbourne Renegades Got a Morale-Boosting Win Against Sydney Thunder On Sunday, December 18, 2022, the world witnessed another close match between Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder at Docklands Stadium, Melbourne. Sydney Thunder who got bowled out for just 15 runs in their previous match were looking for gaining some confidence in this match. After winning the toss, Sydney Thunder opted to bat first and things went pretty well this time unlike their previous performance. Mathew Gilkes and Hales opened the batting while Akeal Hosein opened the attack from the bowling side. Akeal Hosein dismissed Matthew at 3 (8) who was looking to gain some momentum and played a slogsweep and got caught at the deep square leg. Soon Hales was sent back to the pavilion by Mujeeb at 16 (12). After 5 overs, the score of SYT was 23-2. Sangha and Rossouw were trying to bring the innings back on track and successfully posted 46 runs in 8 overs. In the 9th over, Sangha got caught at 10 (14) and in the 10th over, Daniel Sams got out at 1 (2). After 10 overs, SYT was at 63-4. Rossouw was standing on the crease and kept hitting sixes and fours. He was also given LBW out but DRS saved him from the departure. Later on, he completed his 50 in 12.4 overs. In the 15th one, he lost his wicket to Rogers at 53 (38). Ross got the dismissal at 39 (23) in the 19th over. After 20 overs, SYT successfully posted 174-6 and this was a par score for this ground. In the chase, Harper and Maddinson opened the attack and Gurinder Sandhu bowled the first over from SYT and got the wicket of Sam Harper 0 (3). Maddinson began his attack in the third over and brought the score to 31-1 in 3 overs. In the fifth over, Daniel Sams dismissed Fraser at 24 (18). Finch and Maddinson played terrifically today and together brought the score to 86-2 in 10 overs. In the 12 over, SYT got a breakthrough as Maddinson was dismissed at 39 (28). After 15 overs, the score of MLR reached 117-4. They needed 58 runs in 30 balls and the target was achievable only if they don’t lose any more wicket. Hosein and Finch were on the crease and score crossed the 154 mark in 18 overs. Finch was on the crease and hit some beautiful boundaries and showed a terrific batting skills. MLR were at 164 in 19 overs. In the 20th over, Sandhu dismissed Akeal Hosein and Sutherland came to crease and took a single to bring Finch back on strike. Finch hit a magnificent 6 and took two doubles to bagged the victory for MLR. SYT lost the match to MLR by 4 wickets.
