MEG LANNING IS WALKING OFF THE PITCH FOR AN INDEFINITE PERIOD

Australia’s two times World Cup-winning captain, Meg Lanning is definite to step away from cricket for an uncertain period. Owing to some personal reasons, she has put forth her decision to take a break from cricket. 

 

Reportedly, Lanning is the most capped women’s captain of Australia. Welcoming her decision to take a break, Cricket Australia has encouraged and shown absolute support for the 30-years old.

After a busy couple of years, I’ve made the decision to take a step back to enable me to spend time focusing on myself. I’m grateful for the support of CA and my teammates and ask that my privacy is respected during this time.

  • The Megastar of women's cricket, Meg Lanning debuted in a T20I match in 2010 against New Zealand.

 

  • Recently, the wonderful player captained the Australian Women’s team in Commonwealth Games 2022, scalping a gold medal.

 

  • The Meg Lanning-led cricket squad has brought glory to the Australian cricket team with a wonderful win of major trophies in the past two years.

 

  • Under her captaincy, the women's cricket team stepped into grabbing T20 and 50 over World Cup titles (2013 & 2022) with an Ashes series win.

 

  • In 2011, she became the youngest Australian player to hit a century in International cricket in the second ODI, scoring an undefeated 104 against England.
