Youngest Captain to Win a Deodhar Trophy
India had won the under-19 world cup tournament in the capacity of
Virat Kohli, and Delhi made him captain for the Deodhar Trophy in the 2009-10 season. He was the youngest captain to win the Deodhar trophy. Virat Kohli was the captain of North Zone, beat the West Zone by 49 runs in the final, and became the youngest captain at 21 years and 124 days old to win the Deodhar Trophy. Later Shubman Gill broke his record in 2019 and became the youngest captain at 20 years and 57 days to win the Deodhar Trophy.
In the 2009-10 season, Virat Kohli’s North Zone scored 267/9. Shikhar Dhawan and Rahul Dewan started the inning for the North Zone, and Uday Kaul came at third and hit a half-century and got out for 67 runs, while Shikhar Dhawan missed a deserved half-century. Virat Kohli has played the most matches in his career for Delhi. His highest score was 197 in the 2008-09 season of the Nissar Trophy at Feroz Shah Kotla, which is still his highest score in domestic cricket of India.
Nissar Trophy was the friendly match between the winner of the Ranji Trophy and the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy. It is named after the name of pre-partition test cricketer Mohammad Nissar.
