It’s the 14^th match of the Lanka Premier League wherein Dambulla Aura and Colombo Stars had a face off. Nothing favoured Dambulla Aura as they lost the toss and the match. After winning the toss, Colombo Stars invited Dambulla Aura to bat first. Dambulla Aura have lost all of their matches this season and therefore, they wanted to win this match. However, right from the first ball of their innings, they kept losing wickets. Croospulle was dismissed for the golden duck on the very first ball of the over by Rajitha and then Shevon was dismissed on the fifth ball at 0 (3). They kept losing wickets and by the end of 3 overs, the score was 21-4. Shanaka raised some standards in his batting to bring the score at 44-4 in the fourth over. At the end of 6 overs, the score was 54-7. Colombo Stars wrapped up Dambulla’s innings in 13.5 overs at a meagre score of 89. This was another lacklustre performance given by Dambulla Aura.

In the run chase, Colombo Stars didn’t get much stress as the target was quite low. Dickwella and Chandimal came to bat and Madushan opened the attack for Dambulla Aura. However, Colombo’s opener, Dickwella gone for a golden duck as Madushan dismissed him on the very first ball of the innings. The first over went maiden with a wicket. However, Asalanka and Chandimal made it clear right from the beginning that they came to stay there and build partnership and they did. Asalanka and Chandimal shared a strong partnership for the second wicket and scored some thunderous boundaries during the powerplay. Asalanka was the more aggressive player in the partnership, scoring a rapid fifty while the Stars pursued the target in just 12 overs. Rajitha’s spell in today’s match was outstanding as he derailed Dambulla Aura right from the very first over he bowled.
