Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out Of T20 World Cup: BCCI

Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out Of T20 World Cup: BCCI Jasprit Bumrah, an elite Indian pacer, was officially disqualified from the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia on Monday by the BCCI due to a back injury. After the ailment flared up, Bumrah was initially ruled out of the ongoing three-match T20I home series against South Africa. Due to the injury, the 28-year-old also missed the Asia Cup.

As stated in TOI, the BCCI statement read, "The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists," Further, the statement added, "The BCCI will be naming a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for the marquee tournament soon.

On October 23, India will face its bitter nemesis Pakistan in Melbourne. India has already missed all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja due to a knee injury, and now Bumrah's absence is a significant setback. Aside from 14 games with the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, Bumrah has only played five games in each of the three leagues this year. In the South Africa series, Mohammed Siraj took Bumrah's spot.

Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar, two-seamers, were included as standby players as India unveiled its roster for the prestigious competition. India, the 2007 T20 World Cup champion, could not move to the final rounds of last year's competition in the United Arab Emirates. Since his debut in January 2016, Bumrah has represented India in 30 Tests, 72 ODIs, and 60 T20Is. For such latest cricket news and cricket updates, follow CBTF Speed News!
