Punjab Kings is one of the teams struggling to mark their name in IPL matches. PKBS or Punjab Kings is one of the IPL franchise cricket teams based out of Mohali, Punjab. The team was established in 2008 as Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). In February 2021, the team name changed to Punjab Kings. The team plays home matches on the ground of PCA Stadium, Mohali. Strength: The big strength of Punjab Kings is their top-class batting and pacers. Also, the team has three of the best death bowlers with Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran, and Kagiso Rabada to turn the game. Arshdeep Singh may not be in the best rock-solid form in recent matches still in IPL matches, but he has used it as a good asset for the team. In the IPL seasons 2021 & 2022, Arshdeep Singh comes out as a death-over specialist and a strength of the Punjab Kings. Moving towards top-class batting by Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow, these two players handle the team batting to score well.

The Punjab Kings team is backed by the best all-rounders: Sam Curran, Sikandar Raza, and Liam Livingstone. These players deliver the best performances Liam Livingstone is the best hitter in the white ball, and Sam Curran is known for being the best in both bat & ball. Sam Curran and KG Rabada may be used for best death overs to beat down opponents' batters.

Weakness: If we turn towards the biggest weakness of Punjab Kings is without a doubt, their middle order. The team is required to pick up at least one more experienced batter. They could have chosen Steve Smith, and Michael Bracewell & Dasun Shanaka would be better choices. The team relies on Bhanuka Rajapaksa for the job but he seems under confident in a few matches. Jitesh Sharma and Rishi Dhawan are domestic players so they should try for one more established middle-over batter who can level up the team's performance.

Opportunity: In the absence of Rishab Pant, Jitesh Sharma can make a strong base for the team. Without any doubt, Rishab Pant is a star player in Punjab Kings, still, Jitesh can be a great support in his absence. Another important player is Shikhar Dhawan, he scores high runs in IPL seasons each year. Also, he never goes off-season and leaves the leaderboards.

Threats: The main threat for Punjab Kings lies in the availability of players. Punjab Kings rely on the performance of players like Livingstone, Bairstow, and Sam Curran with high expectations. So, in the case of the unavailability of these players, the whole team will suffer. Investors who put money on the team expect them to at least go for all 14 matches. Another threat is Rahul Chahar's performance as he was of color in the last IPL seasons. Opponents read Rahul's batting and surprisingly beat him down.

Some sources confirmed that Shikhar Dhawan will replace Mayank Agarwal as captain for IPL season 2023. The new head coach Trevor Bayliss backed this decision. Mayank Agarwal was the Punjab Kings captain before IPL 2022 when KL Rahul moved to Lucknow SuperGiants. Shikhar Dhawan is a leading name in India's cricket team, and officials & head coach believe he will make the best use of his previous experiences to level up the team's performance.
