West Indies tour of India from 27 September to 17 October 2026, playing 3-ODIs and 5-T20Is across 8 cities. The India vs West Indies 2026 series opens with the first ODI in Thiruvananthapuram on 27 September and closes with the fifth T20I in Bengaluru on 17 October. All 8 matches are in India. Every ODI will begin at 2:00 PM IST. Every T20I will begin at 7:00 PM IST. Star Sports Network carries the television coverage and JioHotstar streams all matches live.
This page is our running guide to the tour. We update it after every squad announcement, venue confirmation and result, so what you read here stays current through October. Bookmark it and check back.
Below you will find the complete India vs West Indies 2026 time table with match dates and venues, start times, profiles of all eight grounds, pitch reports, and the complete IND vs WI 2026 squad.
The complete IND vs WI 2026 fixtures feature 8 matches in India across 3 weeks, starting with 3-ODIs and finishing with 5-T20Is. No two matches are at the same ground. The tour opens in Thiruvananthapuram on 27 September and ends at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on 17 October.
All 3 ODIs are day-night matches with a 2:00 PM IST start and a 1:30 PM toss. All five T20Is start at 7:00 PM IST with a 6:30 PM toss.
The ODI leg runs alongside the Asian Games in Japan, which finish on 3 October. That is why India named 2 separate squads on 16 September, with several first choice T20 players unavailable for the early part of the tour.
There are 3 days between each ODI and either 2 or 3 days between T20Is, so neither side faces back-to-back IND vs WI 2026 fixtures. The travel is demanding, though. The tour moves from the southern tip of the country to the northeast, then to Punjab, before working south again through Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Every ODI in this series starts at 2:00 PM IST, with the toss at 1:30 PM. Every T20I starts at 7:00 PM IST, with the toss at 6:30 PM. The times do not change from match to match, which makes planning straightforward wherever you are watching from.
Daylight saving in New South Wales and Victoria begins on 4 October 2026, so all 3 ODIs fall under AEST while every T20I falls under AEDT. Viewers in Queensland and Western Australia should adjust accordingly. The UK stays on BST for the whole tour, since clocks there do not go back until 25 October.
8 matches, 8 stadiums, and a spread that covers most of the country. The ODI leg starts at the southern end in Thiruvananthapuram, jumps to Guwahati in the northeast, then to New Chandigarh in Punjab. The T20I leg works down the middle of the map from Lucknow to Bengaluru.
The eight surfaces on this tour behave very differently. The ODI grounds are spread across three climate zones, and the T20I leg runs through October, when dew starts to become a real factor at night in most of central and southern India. Captains winning the toss in the T20Is will almost certainly bowl first.
Conditions shift a fair amount across this tour. The first 2 ODIs are played in humid air. Thiruvananthapuram in late September sits at the tail of the southwest monsoon, and Guwahati in early October is warm and sticky. Neither carries a high shower risk, but both hold enough moisture for heavy evening dew. New Chandigarh is the outlier among the ODI venues, with dry air and cooler nights that keep dew to a minimum.
The T20I leg is drier through Lucknow, Ranchi and Indore. Bengaluru on 17 October is the one to watch. The northeast monsoon is usually active over Karnataka by mid October, and an evening shower there is a real possibility for the finale.
Dew is what decides tosses in this series. Once the ball gets wet, it skids on and stops gripping, which makes spin far less effective and the chase noticeably easier. Expect captains to bowl first at almost every venue.
India named both squads on 16 September. The captaincy is split between formats, with Shubman Gill leading the ODI side and Shreyas Iyer the T20I side.
The ODI squad is shaped by a scheduling clash. The Asian Games in Japan run from 17 September to 3 October, overlapping with all 3 ODIs, so India is effectively fielding 2 separate groups. Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Varma and several others are with the Asian Games squad through that window and only join up for the T20Is from 6 October. Nitish Kumar Reddy was pulled out of the Asian Games group to play the ODIs. Punjab's Naman Dhir and Jammu and Kashmir seamer Auqib Nabi earn their first ODI call-ups.
West Indies have not announced their squads. This section is updated the moment they do.
Rishabh Pant misses out, with Jurel taking the wicketkeeping slot.
Jasprit Bumrah is not in this squad, with his workload directed at the Asian Games instead.
To be confirmed. Will be updated on announcement.
To be confirmed. Will be updated on announcement.
Shubman Gill: Leads the ODI side and is coming off a dominant home summer, including 238 runs in the 3 match ODI series against Afghanistan in June. With the 2027 World Cup 13 months away, this is his series to shape.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli: Both are in the ODI squad and both are now selected on form rather than seniority. Every innings either plays is read as a World Cup audition.
Abhishek Sharma: India's most destructive T20I opener. He chased down 157 against Afghanistan inside 14 overs on 13 September and has been the fastest scorer in the side all year.
The spin group: Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi give India 4 frontline options in the T20I squad. On the slower Lucknow surface in particular, this is the unit likely to decide matches.
Mayank Yadav: Returns to the setup after missing the Afghanistan series. India have very few bowlers who touch 150 kph, and how he holds up across 5 matches matters beyond this tour.
Squads are not confirmed, so these are the players expected to feature.
Shai Hope: Captain in both formats and still the anchor of the batting. Made 87 not out and led from the front in the opening ODI win over New Zealand in July.
Shimron Hetmyer: Won the final ODI against New Zealand almost on his own. A middle order player who can take a game away inside 5 overs.
Sherfane Rutherford: The most reliable finisher in the side and a proven performer in Indian conditions through the IPL.
Alzarri Joseph: Took 4 for 41 against New Zealand in July and remains the leader of the attack.
Keacy Carty: Scored 194 runs across the New Zealand ODI series and has become the most consistent top order option.
India split the captaincy across the 2 formats. Shubman Gill leads in ODIs with KL Rahul as his deputy. Shreyas Iyer leads in T20Is with Tilak Varma as vice-captain. Gautam Gambhir is India's head coach, in post since July 2024. Note that VVS Laxman coaches the separate India squad at the Asian Games, which explains the divided setup through the ODI leg.
Shai Hope captains West Indies in both formats, having added the T20I job in 2025. Daren Sammy is head coach across all formats.
The storyline on India's side is Iyer. He has had a mixed start as T20I captain, with series defeats in Ireland and England before recent wins over Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. For Hope, the pressure is on results after a home ODI series loss to New Zealand.
Examining the overall India vs West Indies head to head records, India holds the advantage in both white ball formats, though the historical margins tell different stories across formats.
Looking at the IND vs WI H2H ODI statistics, the record is closer than most fans assume because the bulk of West Indies' 64 wins came in the 1970s and 1980s when they were the dominant side in world cricket. The picture over the last decade is very different. India have not lost a bilateral ODI series to West Indies since 2006, and West Indies have not won an ODI series in India since 1994.
The overall IND vs WI T20i record is more lopsided on paper, with India winning 20 of 31. But West Indies have taken 2 full T20I series off India in the Caribbean, in 2019 and 2023, and they remain a genuine threat on flat, high scoring surfaces of the kind this tour is full of.
The 2 sides last met at Eden Gardens on 1 March 2026 in the Super Eights of the T20 World Cup.
Figures above should be confirmed against ESPNcricinfo on the morning of publication, since aggregator sites often lag by a series.
India: In good shape across both formats. They won the T20 World Cup in March, then beat Afghanistan 3-0 in a home ODI series in June. The T20I side under Shreyas Iyer took longer to settle, losing 2-0 in Ireland and 4-0 in England before turning it around with a 3-0 win in Zimbabwe and comfortable wins over Afghanistan in Delhi this month. India go into this series on a run of 5 straight T20I victories.
West Indies: Less settled. They lost a 5 match home ODI series to New Zealand 3-2 in July, having gone 1-0 up, though they took the decider by 2 wickets with Shimron Hetmyer to the fore. Before that they lost a rain-affected ODI series to Sri Lanka but won the T20Is 2-1. At the T20 World Cup they reached the Super Eights before going out. Jason Holder retired from ODI cricket in July.
India is the clear favourite in the ODI series. The T20I series should be much closer.
The ODI case is straightforward. India are at home, they have not lost a bilateral ODI series to West Indies in 20 years, and they field a batting order containing Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal. West Indies arrive off a home series defeat to New Zealand in which they were bowled out for 138 and 140 in successive matches. A 3-0 or 2-1 result to India is the likeliest outcome.
The T20I series is a different question. 4 of the 5 venues are high scoring grounds with short boundaries, which is exactly where West Indies' power hitters are most dangerous. Hetmyer, Rutherford and the rest of that middle order can put a game beyond reach in 5 overs. India counter with the deepest spin attack in world cricket and a home advantage on surfaces that grip, particularly Lucknow. The toss will matter, because dew makes chasing easier at nearly every stop.
The variable is availability. India's first choice T20I players are at the Asian Games until 3 October and rejoin only days before the opener in Lucknow. How quickly that group settles may decide the first 2 matches.
Full breakdowns are in our ODI series preview, T20I series preview and all 8 match previews.

Streaming (India): JioHotstar streams every match live in HD, with multiple commentary language options and mobile data plans.
Timings: ODI coverage begins around 1:30 PM IST for the toss. T20I coverage begins around 6:30 PM IST.

Note that highlights packages usually go up on JioHotstar within a few hours of each match ending.
Tickets for BCCI home internationals are sold through the host state association, which appoints a ticketing partner for each venue. For this tour that means 8 separate sales, not one central booking.
Most recent Indian internationals have sold through BookMyShow or District, though the platform varies by venue. Check the host association's official social media and website for the announcement rather than searching for a single portal.
Sales typically open 3 to 4 weeks before each match. That puts the first ODI in Thiruvananthapuram already close to sale, with the later T20I venues opening through late September and early October.
Price bands vary widely by venue and stand. As a rough guide, ODI tickets have started around ₹1,000 and T20I tickets around ₹1,200 to ₹1,500 at comparable venues, but confirm the actual figures against the official listing for your match.
Buy only through the official platform. Third party resellers routinely list inflated or invalid tickets, and stadiums will refuse entry on an invalid QR code.
Full previews for all 8 matches, with team news, pitch read and predicted XIs.
1st ODI, Thiruvananthapuram, 27 September. Kerala's first international of the season and West Indies' first look at Indian conditions.
2nd ODI, Guwahati, 30 September. The highest scoring of the 3 ODI venues, with dew heavy enough to make the toss matter.
3rd ODI, New Chandigarh, 3 October. Either a decider or a dead rubber, on the most seam friendly surface of the ODI leg.
1st T20I, Lucknow, 6 October. India's Asian Games contingent rejoins 3 days after that tournament ends, on the slowest pitch of the tour.
2nd T20I, Ranchi, 9 October. True bounce and good carry at Dhoni's home ground.
3rd T20I, Indore, 11 October. The highest scoring venue on the tour, where 200 is routinely in play.
4th T20I, Hyderabad, 14 October. Short square boundaries at Uppal, which suits the West Indies middle order.
5th T20I, Bengaluru, 17 October. The series finale and Chinnaswamy's first international match since October 2024.
For West Indies, the ODI World Cup picture is already settled, and not in their favour. Direct qualification for the 2027 World Cup is decided by the ICC ODI rankings as of 30 September 2026. West Indies sit 10th and were confirmed in August as unable to reach the top 8, even by winning the first 2 ODIs of this tour. They will play the 10-team World Cup Qualifier from 22 February to 23 March 2027 instead. That will be the third consecutive cycle in which they have taken the qualifying route, and they failed to come through it in 2023, missing a World Cup for the first time in their history.
For India, this is the start of a new cycle. They won the T20 World Cup in March 2026 and now have 13 months until the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, which runs from 4 October to 21 November 2027. The ODI squad here is effectively a shortlist. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are both in it, and both are now picked on output rather than status.
In T20 cricket, both sides are rebuilding. Shreyas Iyer is 5 series into his captaincy after replacing Suryakumar Yadav in June. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prince Yadav are being tested well ahead of the 2028 T20 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Milestones to watch. Rohit and Kohli are both closing on career ODI landmarks, Shubman Gill is chasing a run of form that has already produced a 238 run haul in a single 3 match series this year, and Shai Hope is approaching the upper reaches of the West Indies ODI run and century lists.

Not yet. Cricket West Indies had not named its ODI or T20I squads at the time of writing. This page is updated as soon as they do.
Q. Why is India's ODI squad different this time?

Q. Which is the highest scoring venue in the series?
Holkar Stadium in Indore, where totals of 190 to 210 are normal and 200 is regularly in play. The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is the other flat, small ground on the tour.
Q. Which venue helps the spinners most?
The Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. It is slower and two paced, and there sits around 165 to 180, well below the Indian T20 average.
Q. Does the Bengaluru finale have a rain risk?
Yes. The northeast monsoon is usually active over Karnataka by mid October, so the 5th T20I on 17 October carries a genuine risk of evening showers.
Q. Why does the toss matter so much in this series?
Dew. Once the ball gets wet it skids on and stops gripping, which reduces spin and makes chasing easier. Expect captains to bowl first at nearly every venue.
Q. Is this Chinnaswamy Stadium's first match since the 2025 stampede?
The 5th T20I will be the venue's first international since October 2024. The Karnataka government cleared the ground to host again in January 2026, following safety conditions set out in the Justice Michael D'Cunha report into the June 2025 stampede.
Q. Does this series affect the 2027 World Cup qualification?
Direct qualification is decided by the ICC ODI rankings as of 30 September 2026, and the first 2 ODIs fall before that date. However, West Indies were confirmed in August as unable to reach the top 8. They will play the World Cup Qualifier from 22 February to 23 March 2027 instead.
