India vs SA 2nd T20I: SA Won the Rain-Affected Match by 5 Wickets; Lead the Series 1-0

The 2nd T20I between South Africa and India in Gqeberha on December 12th proved to be a nail-biting affair, ultimately won by the Proteas by 5 wickets in a rain-affected match. They prevailed thanks to a forceful display from South Africa at bat. India won't be very dissatisfied because their middle-order performed admirably and their batters batted under challenging conditions. They would like to improve on the fact that both teams' ball handling was a little off. It can be acknowledged that India was forced to bowl with the damp ball.

India Batting First: Put in to bat first by South African captain Aiden Markram, India posted a competitive total of 180/7 with Rinku Singh's unbeaten 68* and Suryakumar Yadav's 56 playing key roles.

Rinku Singh is batting for India Openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill provided a solid start with a 43-run partnership, but wickets fell at regular intervals after that. Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed to convert good starts, making 33 and 12 respectively.

Rain Interrupts: With India at 180/7 in 19 overs, rain forced the players off the field. The DLS method was applied, reducing South Africa's target to 152 in 15 overs.

South Africa's Chase: South Africa's openers, Reeza Hendricks and Matthew Breetzke, got off to a flying start, adding 42 runs in just 16 balls. Breetzke was unfortunately run out, but Hendricks continued his assault, scoring 49 off 27 balls before falling to Avesh Khan.

Reeza Hendricks batting for South Africa Captain Markram and Heinrich Klaasen steadied the innings with a 54-run partnership, followed by David Miller's quickfire 25 off 11 balls. Andile Phehlukwayo finished the chase with a six off the penultimate ball, securing the victory for South Africa.

Player of the Match: Tabraiz Shamsi of South Africa was awarded the Player of the Match for his impressive bowling figures of 2/28 in 4 overs.

Series Score: With this win, South Africa lead the three-match T20I series 1-0. The final match will be played on December 14th in Port Elizabeth.
