India tour of West Indies, 2023: West Indies vs India, 2nd ODI, Preview

The 2nd ODI match of the series took off on 29 July at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. After a low-scoring first ODI, both the teams will try to hold on to the crease. For India, it is a practice opportunity and they have shuffled the batting order in order to offer the time to the players.

In the opening ODI in Barbados, Team India has been outstanding thus far on the tour. The hosts offered little opposition in the first game since the entire team returned to the pavilion after just 114 runs.

All of this was made possible by spinners, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, who used the pitch to the fullest with their flighted deliveries. While Jadeja invested several runs but was ultimately useful, Kuldeep was very frugal with his spell. While Jaddu took three wickets by scoring 37 runs in six overs, Kuldeep took four wickets in just three overs at an economy rate of only 2. Shardul Thakur, Mukesh Kumar, and Hardik Pandya's pace trio each took one wicket.

Ishan Kishan was sent to start the innings alongside Shubman Gill as an experiment.  Kishan established the tone of the innings with 52 runs off only 46 deliveries, but there was little assistance for him from the other end as Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav were unable to score.

Virat Kohli did not bat throughout the game, most likely as a result of opportunities offered to the other players to demonstrate their abilities, while Rohit Sharma entered at number 7 after Shardul Thakur was dismissed and ended the game with a boundary. However, India also struggled to reach the score and lost the five wickets to win the match.

Pitch Report

In the first ODI, the pitch offered enough spin and bounce that helped spinners a lot, resulting in them grabbing 7 wickets out of 10. Pitch is most likely the same as the first ODI.
