Ind vs SA ODI Series 2022: 1st ODI Preview

Recently, India and South Africa came up against each other for a T20 series where the Men in Blue took the lead with 2-1. South Africa holded India for a clean sweep win. There are chances that India will look to lead the scoreboard in the ODI series as well but South Africa will also stand tough against them. Jasprit Bumrah won’t play for six weeks due to a back injury. In the last Test series in England, the team of Dean Algar lost the matches in 3 and 2 days while the Men in Blue knocked out Temba Bavuma’s team in the first T20I in Thiruvananthapuram. In the absence of India’s 2022 T20I World Cup bound team, Shikhar Dhawan would be in the captaincy. While the Dhawan led team will palyu the first ODI, Sharma will fly with his squad for Perth on the same day.  Notably, India has announced a second-string squad for the ODI series. Most of the players who are featured in the T20I series will move to Australia for the preparation of 2022 T2oI World Cup. Meanwhile, the standby players in the World Cup, including Deepak Chahar, Shreyas Iyer, and Ravi Bishnoi will be playing the ODI series. For the ODI series, the 15 members were announced on Sunday and the Dhawan led team will have new players, such as Rajat Patidar and Mukesh Kumar. There are chances that Shahbaz Ahmed and Rajat Patidar make their debut in this series for India’s side. The players like Rahul Tripathi and Ahmed are uncapped players in the team. The former player got his maiden national call-up during the T20I series against Ireland in June. Ahmed appeared in the squad for South Africa T20Is. Both the players were included in the Zimbabwe ODI series but got no chance to play the matches. The SA squad will look to win as many matches as they can. Temba Bavuma stated that there will be a few new players in the squad to play ODI series who will put all their energy to add some strength to their team. Some players, such as Janneman Malan Andile Phehlukwayo are playing in good form.  On the other hand, India squad hasn’t chosen a single player from their T20I World Cup squad apart from standby players - Ravi Bishnoi, Deepak Chahar, and Shreyas Iyer for the ODI match. Expectation from the Match  You can’t expect the win of either of the teams as they both haven't played an ODI here before. Update About the Teams  India  Rajat Patidar is playing the first ODI matches but he may not appear in the first ODI match. Rahul Tripathi can crack the nod. Possible XI Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Rahul Tripathi, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, and Mohammed Siraj.
