ICC Under 19 Womens T20 World Cup 2023: South Africa Women Emerged Victorious Against Bangladesh Women by 5 Wickets

The teams, Bangladesh and South Africa came against each other at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. Bangladesh women won the toss and opted to bat first. 

 

Afia Humaira Anam and Rany Saha came to open the batting attack on the opening bowling of Jemma Botha. In the first over Anam bought the first four for the side. After 3 overs, Bangladesh women got a score of 22. Scoring 12 runs in 14 balls, Rany Saha lost her wicket to Botha and the right-handed batter, Dilara Akter came to the crease. 

 

In the 8th over, Akter drilled three fours, jumping to a score of 43-1. After 10 overs, the women’s squad crossed the half-century with a score of 51-2. Adding 21 runs in 33 balls for the side, Anam lost her wicket to Reyneke. 

 

After 13 overs, Bangladesh women’s score shifted to 68-3. By the end of 19 overs, the side crossed the century with a score of 101-5. 

 

In 20 overs, Bangladesh women posted 106 runs with a loss of 6 wickets. 

 

To chase down the target of 107, Elandri Rensburg and Simone Lourens opened the batting attack on the opening bowling of Marufa Akter. The first two overs weren’t favorable for the side. 

 

In the 3rd over, Rensburg lost her wicket to Akter and the side got a score of 4-1. In the 4th over, Lourens bought the first four for the side. After 6 overs, the side shifted to a score of 30-2. 

 

After 12 overs, RSA women crossed the half-century with a score of 54-4. Hammering multiple fours, Meso helped the side cross the century with a score of 102-4 after 18 overs. 

 

In 18.5 overs, South Africa women scored 108 runs with a loss of 5 wickets and won the match by 5 wickets.
