At North-West University No1 Ground, Potchefstroom, Zimbabwe and Rwanda women squads came against each other for the 14th match of U19 ICC T20 World Cup.
With both the captains on the pitch, Zimbabwe women won the toss and opted to bowl first. Merveille Uwase and Cynthia Tuyizere opened the batting attack on the opening bowling from Kelis Ndlovu. The first three overs were not favorable for Rwanda women. After 3 overs, the side had a score of 5.
In the 4th over, Tuyizere bought the first four for the side and after 3 overs, the team score shifted to 39. In the 11th over, Uwase lost her wicket to Marumani and the side crossed the half-century with a score of 56-1.
In the 14th over from Chare, Ishimwe slammed two boundaries and the score jumped to a score of 78-1. Scoring 30 runs off 44 balls, Ishimwe lost her wicket to Ndlovu while Gisele Ishimwe got a dismissal from Chigora after scoring 34 in 23 balls.
Rwanda women crossed the century, standing at a score of 103-3 after 17 overs. In the 20 overs, the women’s squad posted 119 runs with a loss of 8 wickets.
To chase down the target of 120, Natasha Mthomba and Kay Ndiraya came to the middle on the opening bowling of Henriette Ishimwe. In the first over only, Mthomba bought the first four for the side. In the immediate over, Ndiraya hit a four and lost her wicket to Rosine. After 3 overs, Zimbabwe women got a score of 14-1 and the score shifted to 30-1 after 7 overs.
Scoring 20 off 25 balls, Mthomba lost her wicket to Ishimwe and the left-handed batter, Ndlovu came to the crease. After 11 overs, Zimbabwe women reached a score of 47-2. After 12 overs, the side crossed the half-century with a score of 54-2.
In 18.4 overs, Zimbabwe women got bowled out, being restricted at a score of 80 and lost the match by 39 runs.
