ICC Under 19 Womens T20 World Cup 2023: Australia Women Outshined Sri Lanka Women by 108 Runs

The women’s squads, Australia and Sri Lanka faced off against each other at Willowmoore Park, Benoni at Willowmoore Park, Benoni. The latter team won the toss and opted to bowl first. 

 

 Kate Pelle and Sianna Ginger opened the batting attack on the opening bowling of Rashmi Nethranjali. In the first over only, Pelle bought the first four for the side and after 3 overs, Australia women got a score of 25. 

 

 In the 6th over, Pelle lost her wicket to Sanjana, scoring 27 runs in 19 balls and the right-handed batter, Claire Moore came to the middle. After 8 overs. AUS women crossed the half-century with a score of 51-2. After 12 overs, the score shifted to 84-2. 

 

 After 14 overs, the women's squad crossed the century with a score of 103-2. Scoring 36 off 31 deliveries, Ella Hayward got a dismissal from Rashmi Nethranjali. 

 

 In 20 overs, Australia women posted 159 runs with a loss of 5 wickets. 

 

 Chasing down the target of 160, Nethmi Senarathne and Vihara Sewwandi came to the middle on the opening bowling of Charis Bekker. In the first over, Sewwandi lost her wicket to Bekker and the right-handed batter, Vishmi Gunaratne came to the middle. 

 

 In the 3rd over, Senarathne bought the first four for the side and Sri Lanka women got a score of 21-2. After 7 overs, the score shifted to 36-4. 

 

 Lankan women had a really tough time and could only reach a score of 45-6 after 10 overs. 

 

 Australia women bowled out Lankan women and restricted them at a score of just 51 in 13 overs and won the match by 108 runs.
