Team India gained the top place in the test after a massive win against Australia and became the no. 1 team in all the formats. Australia was the no. 1 test team, and visitors came to play the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as the no.1 test team while India was sitting in second position. India was at the top for a long time and gained the no 1 spot in ODI last month. Men in Blue whitewashed the Black Caps by 3-0 and gained the top place in the ODI.
India was lagging by one position in the test, and a huge margin win in the first test placed India as the first team. However, it was a technical glitch by ICC as they update the ranking after the series rather than each test.
After the latest update, India moved back to second place, and Australia gained the first position. India(111) is lagging by 11 rating points more than Australia(126) in the test, and England is in third place with 107 rating points. In the ODI, India is in the first position with 114 points, Australia is in second place with 112 points, and New Zealand is placed in third place with 111 rating points. In the T20I, India is in first position with 267 rating points, England is in second position with 266 rating points, and Pakistan is in third place with 258 rating points.
The Australian batter couldn’t survive against the Indian spinner and faced a loss by an inning and 132 runs. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was on his comeback and took the fifer in the first inning. Ashwin took the three wickets in the first innings. Ravichandran Ashwin took the fifer in the second innings, and Ravindra Jadeja & Axar Patel supported him with 2 and 1 wickets, respectively. The Australian batter couldn’t even score a half-century against the Indian spinner. 16 out of 20 wickets were taken by the Indian spinner.
The way the series has started, India will most likely reach the top place in the test and will become the top-ranked team in all the formats as ICC updates the rating point at the end of the series.
