In the 12th match of ODI World Cup 2023, the world witnessed the biggest rivalry in cricket. India and Pakistan squared off. India won the toss and opted to bowl first. After being inserted into the batting order, the openers got off to a quick start, but India's bowlers battled to maintain discipline and weren't exactly on the boil right away. Pakistan was looking well and Siraj in particular was being dragged around for a few boundaries. Siraj, however, was the one who gave India their first success when Rohit bluffed and hinted at a short ball before sliding in a cross-seamer to keep low and trap Shafique in front. Imam was quickly dragged into the drive when they pushed a deep point squarer. After that, Rizwan and Babar started to accumulate. At first, they batted gingerly, but they quickly secured anything that was even the slightest bit slack.
With those two at the crease, the boundaries kept falling at regular intervals, and Pakistan appeared to be headed for a large total. India and Rohit, who served as captain, had a tremendous afternoon as they limited Pakistan to just 191. It's amazing that Pakistan has managed to finish with a total of fewer than 200 given the start they had. Pakistan collapsed from a position of 155-2 to 191 all-out in the span of 13 overs. Although the pitch was sluggish, it had no demons. India holds all the cards after the first innings, and it might even play a little bit better under the lights.
In the run chase, Gill and Rohit opened for India. Rohit gets India off to a flier. Gill hits 3 fours off Hasan's first over. Shaheen removes Gill for 16 (2.5). Kohli hits 3 fours off Shaheen early. Rauf hammered for 14 in his first over. Rohit takes India towards victory and Iyer gives him good company. 50 run stand comes up in 55 balls (19.5). Spinners get belted around the ground and Shaheen removes Rohit for 86 (21.4). But, KL and Shreyas took India to the target. Shreyas completed his 50 with the winning four and India won the match by 7 Wickets.
Unquestionably, the eighth straight victory was the simplest. India beat Pakistan handily, maintaining their impressive ODI World Cup record.
