ICC Mens Cricket World Cup: SA Bagged Another Massive Win in the WC; Beat Bangladesh by 149 Runs
In the 23rd Match of the Men's cricket world cup 2023, South Africa and Bangladesh squared off. SA won the toss and opted to bat first. One more day. At the Wankhede, South Africa scored yet another enormous goal. They scored 144 runs off the final 10 overs, finishing with 382 thanks to Quinton de Kock's brilliant 174 and Heinrich Klaasen's furious 90. Aiden Markram also had a fifty, but in the chaos that followed his departure, his accomplishment sort of gets lost in the shuffle. When Markram was fired, Bangladesh were still performing satisfactorily at that time.
With the ball, they had made a strong start, bringing South Africa to 36/2 in just 8 overs. De Kock and Markram had a huge 131-run partnership for the third wicket, but things were still under control. However, when de Kock and Klaasen teamed up, things changed. Immediately after they clasped hands and de Kock raised his hundred, chaos ensued as they wreaked havoc from both ends. Bangladesh was at a loss as to where to turn when both pace and spin vanished simultaneously. Hasan Mahmud eventually fired De Kock and Klaasen, but Miller's little cameo toward the end did not provide them any solace. Despite the challenging playing conditions, Bangladesh's fielding was excellent.
Otherwise, South Africa would have easily surpassed 400, but they preserved a few runs. In the run chase, Bangladesh succumbed to the strong bowling of Proteas. Under the lights over here, the ball simply appears to do a little bit more, and their bowlers once again skillfully took advantage of it like they did against England. In his initial pitch, Marco Jansen once more excelled, giving batters trouble with his speed, movement, and added bounce. Infiltrating for Ngidi, Lizaad Williams discovered movement as well.
Within 8 overs, they had Bangladesh at 31/3, and as is customary for them, Rabada and Coetzee took over the responsibility of wicket-taking. The fact that Rabada caught Litton Das LBW with a stunning catch in the 15th over shows that the ball was still nipping around. The game was obviously finished by that point. As the game came to a close, Mahmudullah played superbly to get a century, giving Bangladesh cause for celebration. Still they fell short by 149 runs before getting bowled out.
