ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, Preview

In the opening match of the ICC World Cup 2023, New Zealand defeated the World Cup champions by nine wickets. Now it's time for the match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh, who are currently rated eighth and ninth respectively. On October 7 at 10:30 am, the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharmashala, will host the third ODI of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Bangladesh had a respectable start, but Afghanistan won their lone exhibition match against Sri Lanka by 6 wickets with 23 balls remaining. After three top-order batsmen scored half-centuries, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka in their first warm-up match by 7 wickets with 48 balls remaining. But in the second game, they were defeated by England by 4 wickets.

Before the commencement of the warm-up games, Bangladesh experienced a blow when Shakib, their captain, hurt his foot during a drill. However, he will be allowed to play in the opening match against Afghanistan. After both players missed the Asia Cup, Afghanistan returned Naveen-ul-Haq and Azmatullah Omarzai to the World Cup roster.

At the Asia Cup in Lahore last month, both teams faced off against one another. Bangladesh scored 334 runs thanks to Mehidy Hasan Miraz (112) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (104). To win by 89 runs, the Bangladeshi pace attack needed to take 8 wickets. In ODIs, this match's overall score (579) was the highest for any side.

Bangladesh had 9 victories over Afghanistan in 15 ODIs. However, both sides only have one victory apiece in World Cups.

Date & Time : Oct 07, 10:30 AM LOCAL

Venue : Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala

Pitch Report: We're in for a cold morning with lows in the 20s and some hazy light. Pacers have had an easier time at this location, picking up 36 wickets in 4 ODIs, compared to only 17 for spinners. In light of their plans to launch a three-pronged pace attack, Bangladesh should be more pleased with this statistic than Afghanistan.
