History, Winners, and Records of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

Test and ODI are the longer formats of the game, and many people don't want to spend too much time. ICC experiments with cricket and the first ever T20 cricket is played between two teams: Australia and New Zealand. At the start of T20 cricket, nobody took it seriously, but people started showing interest in it. After 2 years of the first T20 match, ICC announced the

 is also connected with the first-ever T20 world cup. The T20 world cup is one of the most watched tournaments in the history of sports on and off the field and is also 

 

world cricket news. 16 teams participate in the T20 world cup, 10 are full members of ICC, and 6 are associate members.

 

 ICC World Cup 2007 It was the first ever T20 world cup organized by ICC in South Africa and played between 11 to 24 September 2007. 10 nations participated in the tournament, and all were full members of the ICC. As it was the first-ever

 Pakistan and creating history.

This world cup was full of memorable moments for the fans, be it the six sixes in an over by Yuvraj Singh, the scoop shot by Misbah and catch of S. Sreesanth, and the first-ever T20 century by none other than Chris Gayle.

 

 ICC World Cup 2009 It was the second edition of the T20 world cup organized after two years by ICC and held in 

 

England between 5 June 2009 to 21 June 2009. Pakistan became the winner after beating 

 

Sri Lanka, and they didn’t make any mistakes like in 2007 and defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets. This tournament didn’t go well for previous world champion India which had to take a forceful exit from the Super eight. Dilshan became the man of the tournament and the highest run scorer with 317 runs, while Umar Gul became the highest wicket-taker with 13 wickets.

 ICC World Cup 2010  The third edition of the world cup was held in the 

 

West Indies between 30 April to 16 May 2010. It was again a forgettable tournament for India, but previous world champions Pakistan reached the semi-finals. England beat Australia and became the third team to win the T20 world cup. Mehala Jayawardene became the highest run scorer with 302 runs, and Dirk Nannes became the highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets.

 ICC World Cup 2012  It was the 4th edition of the T20 world cup held in Sri Lanka, and they became the first ever Asian country to host the T20 world cup. It was scheduled between 18 September to 7 October 2012. West Indies became the 4th world champion after beating Sri Lanka by 36 runs. The most memorable event was the final celebration by the Caribbean on “The Gangnam Style”, and it became the world cricket news. Shane Watson became the highest run scorer with 249 runs, and Ajantha Mendis became the

 ICC World Cup 2014  Bangladesh became the second Asian country to host the 5th edition of the T20 world cup, and Sri Lanka became the new world champion after beating India in the final by 6 wickets. It was a great season for India after 2007, and they reached the final but couldn’t win the world cup. Virat Kohli became the highest run-scorer with 319 runs, while Imran Tahir became the highest wicket-taker with 12 wickets.

 

 ICC World Cup 2016 Once again, the 6th edition of the world cup was held in Asia, and India hosted the T20 world cup for the first time. Just like the previous season, it was a great season for India, but West Indies stopped them in the semi-finals and repeated the history of 2012 after beating England by 4 wickets in the final. This season will be remembered for Virat Kohli's heroic innings against 

 

Australia in Mohali and Carlos Brathwaite four sixes in the final against England. Carlos Brathwaite was everywhere in

 

 world cricket news after the four sixes. Tamim Iqbal became the highest run scorer with 295 runs and Md. Nabi became the highest wicket-taker with 12 wickets.

 

 ICC World Cup 2021  The 7th edition of the world cup was scheduled in India after four years, but in 2020 Covid happens, and the ICC shifted the date of the tournament. After one year, UAE hosted the world cup, and Australia became the new world champion after beating 

 

New Zealand by 8 wickets. Once again, India has to take an early exit from the tournament. Babar Azam became the highest run scorer with 303 runs, and Wanindu Hasaranga became the highest wicket-taker with 16 wickets.
