Gareth Bale Helped Wales Controlled USA to 1-1 Draw

In their FIFA World Cup 2022 Group B match at the Al Rayyan Stadium in Qatar, Wales and the USA were able to draw 1-1. The U.S. men's soccer team began its competition against Wales on Monday, in a matchup that should reveal if they came to Qatar with a strong chance to go past the group stage—or if this World Cup is only an improvement over the previous one by virtue of being here.

Timothy Weah received assistance from Christian Pulisic to put the USA up in the first half. However, Wales kept their composure to draw level when captain Gareth Bale successfully converted a penalty in the 82nd minute. Wales participated in the World Cup for the first time since their debut in 1958. In the meantime, USA arrived back home after skipping Russia 2018.

After Timothy Weah's goal, the U.S. played its finest 45 minutes in a very long time to lead 1-0 at the break. However, Wales woke up in the second half and put more pressure on the Americans. With less than ten minutes left, the pressure paid off as Walker Zimmerman conceded a penalty as a result of Gareth Bale's baiting. Bale confidently made the conversion, earning his team a point.

The Americans can be very confident after that performance, but they'll need more than that to defeat their next opponent, England, on Friday.
