England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Day 2: Tom Blundell and Conway Recovered New Zealand from Initial Blows; England Is Leading by 98 Runs

England declared their innings at 325-9 on the first day, Ben Duckett and Harry Brook scored the half-century. New Zealand came to bat and lost three wickets at the end of the first day.

 

Devon Conway and Neil Wagner resumed the play, and Stuart Broad started the bowling. Conway started the second day with three fours on Broad. New Zealand reached 50 runs with a no-ball in the 20th over. Wagner came as a night watchman on the first day, and he hit back-to-back three boundaries - one four and two sixes. The partnership between Devon Conway and Neil Wagner reached 50 runs with a six. He got out on the next ball after scoring 27(32) on Stuart Broad. It was the 1000th test wicket for the Broad-Anderson combination.

 

Daryl Mitchell came to bat and got out on a duck, and Ollie Robinson took his wicket. Devon Conway took a triple and scored his half-century. With this triple, New Zealand reached 100 runs. After the first session, New Zealand was 138-5.

 

Ben Stokes broke the partnership and sent Conway(77) to the pavilion. Michael Bracewell came to bat and returned to the pavilion after scoring 7(14). New Zealand reached 200 runs with a four. Tom Blundell hit a half-century. Kuggeleijn got out after scoring 20(36) on Robinson. After the second session, New Zealand was 238-8.

 

Southee got out after scoring 10(13) on Robinson. In the 72nd over, Blundell hit one four and two sixes. Blundell took a double in the 74th over and reached his hundred. New Zealand reached 300 runs in the 81st over. Blundell got out after scoring 138(181), and it was the 10th wicket of New Zealand. New Zealand got out all out at 306. New Zealand made a great comeback as they were at 83/5.

 

England took a lead of 19 runs in the first inning. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett came to bat, and Tim Southee opened the bowling attack. Duckett hit the four on the last ball. Crawley hit three fours in the fourth over. England reached 50 runs in the 9th over. Duckett got out in the next over after scoring 25(27) runs. Crawley got out after scoring 28(39) on Kuggeleijn. England was at 79-2 at the end of day two and was leading with 98 runs.
