Following their victory over England in the previous ODI series and their commanding two-nil lead in the T20I match, the Caribbean men were brimming with confidence. But since then, they have suffered a string of losses, going from a comfortable position to one where victory is now essential.
Throughout this series, the home team's best run scorers have been Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell. Powell has 124 runs while Pooran has 139. After a strong start to the series, opener Brandon King has subsequently lost his edge, recording scores of eight and zero.
With six and five wickets respectively, Alzarri Joseph and Andre Russell are the West Indies' top wicket-takers in this series.
Joseph has joined the Indian Premier League's Royal Challengers Bangalore, and he will be keen to show that he deserves the large salary in this game. For his first T20I series in two years, Russell is performing admirably. If the Windies hope to win this game, they will need to figure out how to effectively counter England's formidable batting attack. Jos Buttler and Phil Salt, the opposition openers, have been outstanding lately, and the visiting middle order has mostly followed suit.
With two victories in a row in this T20I series, England has done well to move past the disappointment of losing to the West Indies in the ODI series and losing early in the 2023 Cricket World Cup. However, there's still work to be done because they have a tough decision waiting for them in Tarouba.
