A fly slip is a player positioned at a distance from a batsman and traditional slips, near the 30-yard circle. In this position, the fielder stands where the second pitch is kept covered. Thus, it is known as a fly slip.
It is a slip position wherein a fielder is placed on the off side of the pitch. The gully aims to take catches off edges that travel fast and low toward the ground.
This position is located on the off-side of the field. The cover point is placed to the left side of the extra cover fielder and to the right of the point fielder.
This position is mostly occupied by a fielder who is quick on speed and has good reflexes. The cover point fielders may have the skill to estimate the direction as well as the speed of the ball so that they can move towards the ball to either catch or stop the ball from reaching the boundary.
The fielder who is quick and has good reflexes can be the most suitable for this position. This fielding position is located on the leg side of the field and behind the square leg position. The fine-leg fielder stands near the boundary to prevent batsmen from scoring runs.
