CWC League 2 2026 Oman Tri-Series: Nepal vs Oman vs Canada Schedule, Points Table, Squads and Live Score

Oman will host Canada and Nepal in the CWC League 2 2026 tri-series from 9 to 19 October. There are 6 ODIs, all at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground near Muscat, and each team plays the other 2 twice. It is the 23rd of 24 rounds in the 2024-26 Cricket World Cup League 2.

The top 4 teams in League 2 go straight to the 2027 World Cup Qualifier. Scotland, the USA and the Netherlands have already secured 3 of those places. Oman are 4th on 31 points, Canada 6th on 25 and Nepal 7th on 24. This is the final League 2 series for Canada and Nepal, and their last chance to catch Oman.

This page is updated with squads, start times, results and the Nepal vs Oman live score throughout the series.

There is 1 rest day between each match. Oman have the toughest run: they play on 13 and 15 October with only 1 day between, and their 4 matches are spread across 11 days.

For Nepal fans, the Nepal cricket schedule for October 2026 is:

  • 11 October: Nepal vs Canada
  • 13 October: Nepal vs Oman
  • 17 October: Nepal vs Canada
  • 19 October: Nepal vs Oman

The last Nepal vs Oman match, on 19 October, is the final game of the series. If the race for 4th is still open by then, that match could decide it.

How CWC League 2 Works

League 2 is the second tier of men's ODI cricket and the main route into World Cup qualifying for the leading Associate nations.

Format:

  • 8 Teams: Canada, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, Oman, Scotland, the UAE and the USA.
  • Multi-year Cycle: They meet in 24 tri-series between February 2024 and December 2026, for 144 matches in total.
  • Each Team Plays 36 ODIs: 3 home series and 6 away.

Points: 2 for a win and 1 for a no result. Teams level on points are separated by wins, then net run rate, then their results against each other.

What Each Finish Means:

  • Top 4: Qualify directly for the 2027 World Cup Qualifier, from 22 February to 23 March 2027.
  • Bottom 4: Go to the Qualifier Play-off, where they face 4 teams from the CWC Challenge League. The top 4 teams from the Play-off also reach the Qualifier.

The Qualifier has 10 teams: the top 4 from League 2, the top 4 from the Play-off, and the 2 lowest-ranked Full Members in the ODI rankings as of 30 September 2026, excluding South Africa and Zimbabwe, who host the World Cup. The 10 teams play for the last 4 places at the 2027 World Cup, which runs from 4 October to 21 November 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Scotland have finished their fixtures. Oman and the UAE have played fewer matches than anyone else, which is why the table looks closer than the race really is.

Qualification Scenarios

Oman

If Oman win 3 of their last 8 matches, they will reach 37 points, more than any team below them can reach, and 4th place will be theirs. If they beat Canada in both matches, Canada will be out of the race. A single win over Nepal will end Nepal's chances.

Canada

Canada can still finish 4th, but only if all of the following happen:

  • Canada win all 4 of their matches, which would take them to 33 points.
  • Oman fail to win any of their other 6 matches.
  • Namibia finish below 33 points, which would mean winning no more than 2 of their last 4.
  • The UAE fail to win all 8 of their remaining matches.

Nepal

Nepal's path is even harder. They can finish 4th only if all of the following happen:

  • Nepal win all 4 of their matches, which would take them to 32 points and 15 wins.
  • Oman fail to win any of their last 8 matches.
  • Namibia win no more than 1 of their last 4. If Namibia win 2, they would finish level with Nepal on points and wins, and net run rate would decide the place.
  • The UAE win no more than 6 of their last 8. If the UAE win 7, net run rate would decide it.

The Realistic Picture: Oman is in a strong position. Canada and Nepal would both need a clean sweep, plus a run of results elsewhere that would be very unusual. For both of them, the more likely outcome is a place in the Qualifier Play-off, which still offers another route to the World Cup Qualifier.

Al Amerat Cricket Ground: Venue Guide, Records and Conditions

The Al Amerat Cricket Ground is in the Al Amerat area of Muscat and is the home of the Oman Cricket Academy. All 6 matches are on Turf 1, the main ground, which appears on scorecards as Ministry Turf 1. It has hosted League 2 cricket since the previous cycle, including the 2021 Oman tri-series against Nepal and the USA, and it staged group matches at the 2021 T20 World Cup.

What the numbers show: This is a low-scoring ODI ground. The average first-innings score of around 195 is well below what you would expect on most ODI surfaces, and chasing teams have won more often than teams batting first.

Oman's lowest total: It came in a League 2 match at this ground in February 2025. Oman bowled the USA out for 122, then were bowled out for 65 in reply. It shows how quickly batting can collapse on a surface like this.

Away from home, Oman have won 8 of their 20 League 2 matches.

Conditions: Muscat is hot in October and rain is rare. With 6 matches on 1 pitch in 11 days, the surface is likely to slow down and help spin more as the series goes on. That would suit Nepal, whose attack is built around leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.

  • The turning point: Oman won all 4 matches in their first home series, in November 2024, including 2 wins over the Netherlands, who have since qualified.

  • Their best away series: A new-look team won 3 of 4 in the USA in May 2025, including both matches against Canada.

  • 2026 so far: More mixed, with 3 wins, 4 losses and 1 no result. That includes 2 defeats to the UAE in Kirtipur.

  • Still to play: Oman have 8 matches left, more than any other team in contention. That gives them the most control over their own finish.

  • A strong start: Canada won all 4 matches in the UAE in February and March 2024, including both against Scotland. In one of those, Harsh Thaker scored 105 not out in Dubai. They then won all 4 at home in September 2024.

  • The slump since: After those 2 series, Canada have won just 2 of their last 20 League 2 matches.

  • Rain and an unsafe pitch: Several of their matches have been affected. A home match against the Netherlands in June 2026 was abandoned because the pitch was dangerous.

  • This series: Canada's best results this cycle have come against Nepal and Oman. They have beaten both, which gives them some confidence coming into these matches.

Key Players to Watch

Oman

  1. Shakeel Ahmed. Has 49 wickets at 14.44 and is the most effective bowler in the series by average. He is at his best with the new ball on a low-scoring home ground.

  1. Jatinder Singh. Captain. He made a career-best score against Nepal in April 2026 and scored 197 runs in that series.

  1. Hammad Mirza. A wicketkeeper-batter who top-scored for Oman in Namibia with 201 runs.

  1. Nadeem Khan. Took 8 wickets in his debut series, including 3 for 42 and 3 for 41 against Nepal.

Canada

  1. Kaleem Sana. Canada's leading bowler this cycle, with 44 wickets.

  1. Saad Bin Zafar. Captain and a left-arm spin all-rounder, which should suit the slow Muscat pitch.

  1. Harsh Thaker. Vice-captain. He scored 234 runs in Canada's best series of the cycle, in the UAE in 2024, including 105 not out against Scotland.

  1. Dillon Heyliger. Took 11 wickets the last time these 3 teams met, including a five-wicket haul against Nepal. He was not in the June 2026 squad, so watch whether he is recalled.

Nepal

  1. Rohit Paudel. ODI captain and the anchor of Nepal's batting.

  1. Dipendra Singh Airee. Nepal's T20I captain and ODI vice-captain. He was the leading run-scorer in Nepal's best recent series, with 268 runs at home in April and May 2026.

  1. Sandeep Lamichhane. The first bowler to reach 100 wickets in League 2, and the most important bowler for Nepal on a surface that should turn more as the series goes on.

  1. Gulshan Jha. An all-rounder who took his first ODI five-wicket haul against Oman in 2024.

Series Preview

Oman start as favourites. They are at home, they have won 6 of 8 League 2 home matches this cycle, and they have the most dangerous bowler in the series in Shakeel Ahmed. On a ground where first-innings totals average around 195, a bowling attack like theirs matters more than usual. They also have the most to play for, since 2 wins here would put them very close to securing 4th place.

Canada has the better head-to-head record but worse recent form. They have beaten Nepal twice and split their 4 matches with Oman this cycle. But they have won only 1 of their 8 League 2 matches in 2026, and 2 of their last 20 overall.

Nepal has the conditions but not the away record. Slower pitches later in the series should help Lamichhane and Lalit Rajbanshi. Nepal have won only 1 away match all cycle, but the 2 matches against Canada are at a neutral venue, where their record is a little better.

The games to watch are the 2 matches between Oman and Canada, on 9 and 15 October. If Oman wins both, the race for 4th is effectively over.

This is editorial analysis based on standings, results and conditions. It is not betting advice or a prediction of any outcome.

What Happens Next

  • Oman: After this series, they finish their League 2 campaign in December, with 4 matches in the UAE against the hosts and the Netherlands.

  • Canada and Nepal: Their League 2 campaigns end on 17 and 19 October. Unless they reach the top 4, both go to the Qualifier Play-off, alongside 2 other League 2 teams and 4 teams from the Challenge League. The top 4 teams from the Play-off go through to the World Cup Qualifier.

  • World Cup Qualifier: Runs from 22 February to 23 March 2027, with 10 teams playing for the last 4 places at the 2027 World Cup. The venue has not been announced.
