Caribbean Premier League 2023, 17th Match: Jamaica Tallawahs Faced 2-Runs Defeat Against Trinbago Knight Riders

The 17th match of CPL 2023 was played at Kensington Oval, Barbados between Jamaica Tallawahs and Trinbago Knight Riders. JT won the toss and opted to bowl first. TKR were a bit tentative to start their inning today but as Mark Deyal provided his team a blazing start, the powerplay concluded with all wickets intact. After the powerplay, he threw it away, and Pooran was also easily eliminated. Pollard and Lorcan Tucker helped the Knight Riders reassemble, and the TKR captain delivered a few devastating strikes.

He did, however, lose his wicket in the dying stages of the game. With the dismissals of Pollard, Deyal, and Pooran, Kelvin Pitman made his debut for Jamaica one to remember. In addition, Mohammad Amir contributed with 3/20 as TKR was limited to a meager total of 142-8 in 20 overs. The game was in the favour of JT’s batters as their bowlers have done their job. In the run chase, JT got off to a good start, and it looked like it would be a piece of cake, but the slippery frosting hurt them. Under pressure to defend 142, Russell, Narine, Salamkheil took the wickets, while Ali Khan hammered the yorkers.

TKR had to contend with a 57-run opening partnership since they didn't have enough runs on the board. Salamkheil, though, began the parade of wickets, and others joined in at regular intervals. 12 needed to be off the last over, but Ali Khan maintained composure and struck the yorkers under the pressure. JT lost the match by 2 runs. Third consecutive victory for TKR and third consecutive defeat for JT. Indeed, the fortunes contrast. Here at the CPL 2023, fortunes will keep changing.
