Big Bash League: Perth Scorchers Picked Off a Comprehensive Win Against Sydney Sixers The 6th match of Big Bash League 2022, Season 12 held between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers on 17 December 2022 at Perth Stadium, Perth. Perth Scorchers won the toss and opted to bat first. The first inning was started with Lyth and Plessis on the crease, and Bird opened the attack for Sydney Sixers. Bird took the first wicket of Lyth in the second ball of the 1st over. du Plessis, Nick Hobson, and Turner were also dismissed during the powerplay, and Scorchers scored 40/4. Izharulhaq Naveed tried to haul the run chase but was dismissed in the 7th over. Perth Scorchers reached 65 with a loss of 5 wickets in the 10 overs. After 10 overs, Hardie took his pace and crossed his fifty in 32 balls in the 14th over. The duo of Hardie and Agar scored 28 runs from 14th over. However, Hardie lost his wicket, and Perth crossed 121 runs with a loss of 6 wickets after 15 overs. In the last 5 overs, Sydney Sixers took 3 more wickets of Tye, Agar, and J Richardson, and Perth Scorchers ended the first innings with 155 runs after losing 9 wickets. Sixers opened the second inning with Patterson and Philippe on the crease, and Behrendorff opened the attack. J Richardson dismissed Patterson in the 2nd over, and Patterson was gone just after 3(5). In the following 3rd over, Behrendoff looked in his form and dispersed two wickets of Henriques and Philippe. Sydney Sixers were able to chase 22 runs with a loss of 3 wickets during the powerplay. James and Christan were dismissed in the 7th and 8th overs, respectively, without even starting their innings properly.  Sydney Sixers reached 46 runs with a loss of 5 wickets after 10 overs with Hayden and Jordan Silk on the crease. 68 needed off 30 balls after the 15 overs, and Sydney Sixers were in a tense situation. The 16th over turned into a power surge over by Hayden and Jordan as they scored 18 runs in this single over. However, J Richardson dismissed Hayden in the 1st ball of the 17th over, and he was gone after chasing a good score of 42 runs. Richardson allowed the Sixers to chase 3 runs from the 17th over. After that, Sydney Sixers lost wicket after wicket, and the match as they could not chase the targeted of 156. They lost all their wickets in 20 overs scoring just 117 runs. The Sixers, who had lost half of their starting lineup in 31 runs, needed a partnership to get back on track. Silk and Kerr contributed 75 for the sixth wicket. However, unlike the Scorchers, the Sixers did not capitalize on the 2-over power surge. The excellent Richardson defeated Kerr, Silk quickly followed, and the pursuit ended. Richardson finished 4 for 9, and the defending champions are off to a good start with a win, but the Sixers have lost back-to-back games and need to regroup.
