Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Indian captain, has been one of the most successful players in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After a close defeat in the inaugural match in 2008 and getting knocked out by the opposition in semis in 2009 edition, finally, in 2010 Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the first ever captain to lift the IPL title. Chennai Super Kings defeated
Mumbai Indians by 22 runs in the final to win the trophy. Dhoni played a captain knock of 22 runs off 18 balls in the final over and took a brilliant catch to dismiss Kieron Pollard. This win became special because it was the first ever win for Dhoni as a captain.
The first season of the Indian Premier League saw an exciting last-ball finish in the finals between the teams Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals MS Dhoni was the captain of Chennai Super Kings, and he played a crucial knock of 43 runs off 26 balls to help his team chase down a target of 216 runs. Chennai Super Kings needed 26 runs off the last over to win the match and get the title of IPL in this season too. Dhoni came in the field and hit three sixes and a four in the over to take his team close to victory. However, he was run out on the fourth ball of the over, and CSK lost the match by 1 run. Dhoni knock of 84 runs in 48 balls was one of the best innings in the IPL history.
The final of IPL 2019 between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings was a low-scoring thriller. Mumbai Indians batted first and were restricted to just 149/8 in their 20 overs. In reply, Chennai Super Kings were struggling at 82/4 in the 13th over when Dhoni came to bat. He scored a vallant 29 off 47 balls, but it was enough as Chennai Super Kings fell short by just one run. Despite the balls, Dhoni fighting spirit and calm demeanor under pressure were once again on display.
