Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, Only Test, Day 1 Summary

After Day 1 of this Test has concluded, Bangladesh is in a good spot. The hosts controlled the first two sessions of the match, but Afghanistan briefly regained control in the third session. Despite Mahmudul Hasan Joy's excellent 76-run performance, Shanto's 146-run innings was the day's high point.

Before Afghanistan began to take some wickets in the afternoon, the partnership had scored 212 runs for the second wicket. Mominul was caught at slip while skipper Litton Das was strangled down the leg-side. Afghanistan's over rate was also on the slower side due to the number of no balls and wides they bowled throughout the day. At the end of the day, Bangladesh scored 362-5. Mehidy Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim are both off to respectable starts, and they both anticipate reaching their fifties tomorrow.

You never know if they'll try to turn them into even higher scores. What surprises are in store for us on Day 2?
