Babar Azam Profile, Stats and Records | CBTF News

Babar Azam Profile, Stats and Records The world is ecstatic when a country that produces frightening fast bowlers unexpectedly makes a stylish and technically proficient batter. Babar Azam for you, then! He is an elegant and gracious top-order batsman who was raised in the lovely city of Lahore.

Babar Azam, a first cousin of the Akmal brothers, started playing cricket early and represented his nation in the U15 World Championship and the U19 World Cups in 2010 and 2012. Azam was Pakistan's top run-scorer in both World Cups and had a lot of promise.

Everything About Babar Azam

Babar Azam became one of the most significant players for Pakistan within two to three years after joining the team, and he was handed charge of the team in all forms. Learn more about him today.

Profile Early in 2017, Babar Azam became the second-fastest player to five ODI tonnes behind Quinton De Kock when he reached his fifth against the West Indies in his 25th innings. The most excellent total was his 1306 runs after 25 hits, surpassing Jonathan Trott's totals. Indeed, Babar Azam has had a fast-paced life. His three straight ODI tonnes against the Windies in the UAE in 2016 were a prelude to one illustrious career that now glares at us. In the shorter forms, Pakistan has a perpetual hunt for a reliable number 3. Their batting lineups have appeared more sparse than Old Mother Hubbard's cupboard at the international level, particularly in the shorter formats.

However, Babar's entrance into the world stage cannot really be characterized as serendipity. Another untapped potential has been released since he was selected for the Pakistan under-19 squad for the 2010 World Cup as a fifteen-year-old. Nevertheless, a second under-19 World Cup campaign was the consequence of considerable refining in 2012. He was the skipper this time. Babar amassed enough runs to finish as his team's leading run scorer even though Pakistan was eliminated by eventual victors India.

After going through the local system, Babar seized his opportunity in 2016 to defeat the Windies in the UAE with hands as large as tentacles. A test debut against a Caribbean squad was also successful, and the fairytale maintained its flow. But in the whites, faults were exposed in late 2016 and early 2017 on Australia's springy tracks. But Babar would find a way out since he admires ABD and wants to assess Virat Kohli's accomplishments.

A superb opening batsman, Babar Azam is the cousin of the Akmal brothers (Kamran, Umar, and Adnan). In 2009, he was the top run-scorer in a tri-series that featured Bangladesh Under-19 and Sri Lanka. The selectors decided to allow him to play for his country because of his consistency at the Under-19 level. He was included in the Pakistan team for the domestic Zimbabwe series, allowing him to make his debut there. He debuted with a flawless fifty and has already displayed flashes of exceptional stroke-making skill. Babar was then given a berth for the Sri Lanka trip in July. However, he could only participate in two of the five ODIs.

Records and stats In ODI cricket, he has been the third-fastest Pakistani batter to achieve 1000 runs (21 innings). Along with Zaheer Abbas, he is the only Pakistani batsman to amass 2000 runs in ODI cricket in less time (45 innings). Babar Azam is the first Asian player to reach 3000 runs in ODIs in the shortest time (68 innings). He also owns the record for the most runs scored in the first 25 innings of a player's career (1306 runs). Babar Azam is the only cricketer to score five straight hundreds in a single country (United Arab Emirates).Babar is the player who has scored ODI hundreds in most games (7, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17).

He is the second most prolific Pakistani batsman in this format with 17 hundred in ODIs. He is the first batter in history to score three straight hundreds twice. His 13 innings make him the quickest captain to 1000 ODI runs. With 303 runs in the T20 World Cup of 2021, he has the most runs. In terms of time required, he is also the quickest batter to accumulate 1000 runs in T20 Internationals (26 innings). In a single World Cup, Babar Azam also recorded the most scores for Pakistan in the world cup(474 runs in the 2019 World Cup). In 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2021, he led Pakistan in runs scored in ODIs.

Additionally, in both 2018 and 2019, Babar Azam led Pakistan in test scoring. He now holds the record for Pakistan's and a captain's greatest Test score in the fourth innings of a Test match. In men's international cricket, he has scored 50 or more points in the most consecutive games. He is the first Pakistani captain to beat India in a World Cup match.Babar is the first cricketer from Pakistan to get the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year award. In ODIs, he has the most significant individual total of any Pakistani skipper. The T20I batsman who reached 2000 and 2500 runs most quickly is him.

He holds the most outstanding T20I score for Pakistan and is one of just three batsmen from Pakistan to have scored a century in all formats. With 473 and 554 runs, he scored the most in the PSL in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. He is the sixth player overall and the first Pakistani captain to score 1000 runs in all forms. He was the fourth captain overall and the first Pakistani to hit a century in each format. He faced 425 balls, the fourth-highest total of any player in a Test match's fourth inning. He also holds the record for the second-most innings batted in a game's fourth innings. He is the Pakistani captain with the joint-most international centuries.

Babar became the fastest player to attain this milestone when, in the first ODI against South Africa in April 2021, he struck his 13th ODI century in his 76th innings, breaking the previous mark of 83 innings held by Hashim Amla. With 865 points at the end of the series, he surpassed Virat Kohli, who had retained the top spot for the previous 1258 days, to become the No. 1 ODI batter.

Wrapping Up

On October 15, 1994, Babar Azam was born into a Punjabi Muslim household. He was raised in the Walled City of Lahore and remembered: "playing cricket and running around the streets like a wild bird." He was drawn to cricket because of his elder cousins, Kamran and Umar Akmal, and their accomplishments and tales inspired him. He, therefore, decided to pursue a career in cricket. Before entering a cricket academy and beginning his county cricket career there, he worked as a ball boy at Gaddafi Stadium. He was present during the series at home Pakistan contested between 2006 and 2008. His first coach, Rana Sadiq, offered him advice and gave him a practical explanation of what batting entailed. The boy from Lahore is on the right path to becoming an all-time great.
