Jasprit Bumrah, India’s seasoned fast bowler, is expected to miss the Asia Cup 2022 T20 event due to a back injury that will take some time to recover. On Monday, the Indian team for the continental championship is going to be finalised, although it's unknown whether the announcement will be made that day. On the condition of anonymity, a top BCCI representative confirmed to PTI that “Jasprit Bumrah will not participate in the Asia Cup due to a back injury. He is the primary bowler of the Indian side. Hence we want him to start bowling again before the T20 World Cup. He cannot compete in the Asia Cup 2022 because of a potential injury." On July 14, Jasprit Bumrah played his final One-Day International against England before being rested for the West Indies limited-overs series. Due to a side strain, pacer Harshal Patel might also miss the Asia Cup along with Bumrah. The back injury is likely to keep him out for a while. Before he is allowed to participate in the white-ball home series against Australia and South Africa in September-October, he needs to complete rehabilitation work at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Similar concerns affected Bumrah a few years back, and he was out for an extended period. The pacer is currently on vacation in America with his family. The absence of Bumrah is a setback for the Indian team since he needs a few games to get back into the swing of things after a lengthy absence of more than two months. Quick Glance of Bumrah’s Performance A member of the Indian national cricket team in all formats, Jasprit Jasbirsingh Bumrah, represents his country internationally in cricket. He is the first Asian bowler to take 5 wickets in test innings in South Africa, England, and Australia during the same calendar year. He was included in India's Test squad for their series against South Africa in November 2017. On January 5, 2018, he played for South Africa in his country's Test debut at Newlands in Cape Town. Bumrah took his first five-wicket haul in a Test match in the third India Tour of South Africa match in 2017–18, held in Johannesburg, with the stats of 5/54 from 18.5 overs. Bowling Style Bumrah gained fame for his outstanding effort. He makes a brief run-up, the first few steps of which are short, staccato strides. He generates a high pace with an odd stiff-armed action, and the batters have a hard time reading his bowling because of his particular release point. He frequently bowls short or outside the off-stump. Bumrah developed a reputation for having a fantastic knack for hitting the block hole, much like his Sri Lankan compatriot Lasith Malinga of the Mumbai Indians. Bumrah has become a valuable member of the Indian team's limited-overs squad. Follow for more
