Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI Called Off Due to Heavy Rain
The 2nd ODI of AFG vs SL was hosted in Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele. Afghanistan took the lead to win the toss and chose to bat first. The match between Afg and SL was abandoned due to heavy rain in Pallekele and both the teams had to leave the pitch. For the 2nd ODI match, Afghanistan successfully batted for their gameplay and registered 228 runs. Here are the innings update: Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran came to the crease on the opening bowling attack of Rajitha. In the 2nd ODI, Gurbaz hit the first boundary and the first six of the innings on the throw from M Theekshana. Afghanistan got a score of 13 after 4 overs. Kumara dismissed the first player of Afg, Ibrahim Zadran who scored 10 in 18 balls. The right handed batter, Rahmat Shah came to the middle. Rahmat and Gurbaz brought multiple boundaries and sixes for the side that shifted their score crossing the half-century, 52-1 after 10 overs. Rahmanullah and Rahmat set up a wonderful partnership that helped their team cross the half-century; 100-1 after 19 overs. On the over from Dhananjaya, Gurbaz smacked a beautiful six that got him a 50-run stand. In the 25th over, Rahmat Shah got to his 22nd ODI half-century. After 27 overs, Afghan batters jumped to a score of 133-1 and thereafter, Gurbaz lost his wicket to Dhananjaya, who fueled 68 runs in 73 balls. After playing a long inning, Rahmat got a dismissal from M Theekshana who added 58 runs in 78 balls. After 36 overs, Afghanistan got a score of 165-4. With Hashmatullah Shahidi and Mohammad Nabi on the pitch, the team score was 192-5 after 41 overs. Sri Lanka pacers restricted Afghan batters at a score of 228-9 and the game was wrapped in 48.2 overs. For the run chase of 229, Nissanka and Kusal Mendis opened the batting attack to face the bowling of Fazalhaq Farooqi. After 2 overs, Sri Lanka got 4 runs. There were only 3 overs played and the match was impeded by rain which got heavier with time.
